>>715415634 (OP)It's a mixed bag. The remake adds cool stuff like pipes to make backtracking better to handle, 2 optional bosses, every character is 10x more expressive, the cutscenes were revamped and there is new added music in a lot of places.
But on the bad side menuing is dog shit now being super sluggish worsening the pace (this is most apparent in battles), dialogue is super slow/can't be skipped your first time reading it nor can you go back in dialogue like you could in the original, the frame rate is lowered and the audience mechanic is worse in combat as it stops gameplay to show you someone is about to throw something at you.
Then there is mixed stuff like a lot of the text was fixed translation-wise to fix errors and mistranslations but it was also censored heavily in weird ways, I personally miss the old credits but I know people enjoy the new credits, the old music you can only partially go back to as the new music pops in for cutscenes that had no music now, some badges were nerfed like the Power Bounce and Hammer Throw but you could debate that's a good thing, combat has music variants depending on if you're idling or not which I personally find annoying since it makes listening to the main song harder and the art style changes are very debated among people.
Personally I'd rather go back to the original just due to the better pace in the moment-to-moment gameplay with the text alongside it being censored less and I miss the older audience mechanic. I imagine the remake is better for a first-time playthrough but I do think new players will find things less enjoyable at times due to the slower pace and the censored dialogue.
