Has the general quality of internet discourse surrounding video games declined? For instance, would talking to someone on /v/ or Twitter in 2025 be any better than talking to someone on something like the Neoseeker Forums in 2007?

Not so much here, but generally you're sort of walking on eggshells a lot of the time because people are bigger bitches than they were back then but their opinions are still largely as dumb as they were back in the 2000s on forums

A lot of people here are actually permanent tourist due to easy access to the internet from social media. That brings with it lower quality discussion because the general populous is generally low iq

It's not just video games, everything has declined. Almost everyone have access to the internet now and people take things way too seriously. The internet used to be a fun place to explore and filled extremely creative and passionate users who create content for the sake of content.
Now it's way to strick with and people fix their attention to i few limited websites and app, there is nothing to explore, nothing to discover.
