a lot of people will play it. But will they stick with it? Absolutely not. Just like every other classic re-release the playerbase is gonna fall off a cliff after 1 month.

It has high highs and low lows.
The single biggest failure is siege of orgrimmar lasting more than a year.
Mogushan vaults, heart of fear, terrace of endless spring? Not a bad lineup but kind of forgettable.
The entirety of Isle of Thunder and its associated raid were amazing though.

Isle of thunder was when I quit WoW. It was just spamming the same daily quests again and again for a rep grind. I don't see the appeal in WoW as it always seems to be the same thing: grind rep.

I will. I'm only really interested in raiding, and it's a nice sweet spot between vanilla and retail. with actual engaging raid mechanics unlike vanilla, but not as pozzed as retail is at this point.
this will probably be my last hurrah with classic though, and WoW in general. maybe I'll do Wrath again if anni servers progress to it, but idk.

Cata was the last arguable "classic" xpac, mop and wod are a weird inbetween to the nu legion style it has been since legion

Mists' strength was coming right after Cata and its pretty lazy and small raid that we had nothing else to do but run for like a year.

After Cata's bunch of scattered zones that you had to take portals to, having a full fresh (and honestly beautiful) continent to quest through was a breath of fresh air, and it was a pretty nice adventure going on that winding journey through the plains, up into the mountains and over to the bad side of the great wall

Also HoF actually involved creating a whole new dungeon environment filled with new enemy models, Dragon Soul gets called lazy because virtually EVERYTHING about it was recycled, there was very little new model work between the environments and bosses

What's the QRD on MoP PvP? It's been shilled as one of the peaks of arena by the current crop of PvP streamers. Is it actually good or different than retail? Is there some variety in strategy or is it the same cc the healer -> pop your swifty 1 shot macro -> do it again when DRs reset. I liked vanilla through WotLK PvP.

Anyone who says this immediately outs themselves as being blinded by nostalgia IMO. WoW has never been and will never been very well balanced, especially in PvP. Wait and see when the MoP ladder is like 50%+ of one comp. It happened in TBC, it happened in wrath.

in like a decade, if they keep it going that long. I have a feeling they will end it with Legion though, it's the last expansion that a sizeable amount of people would be excited for. and if they're going to cut it off anywhere, it's a good point story-wise. I can't really see them doing a classic version of the previous expansion to retail. I mean, as much as people scoff at the idea of MoP being classic, it's 13 years old, almost as old as vanilla was when classic originally released. Legion will be probably around 14 years old by the time they get there. something being 2 years old and getting a re-release would be kind of weird and I'm not sure if Blizzard would want to do that. then again, who the fuck knows, that's still a fairly long ways out and I don't have a crystal ball. I don't even think Blizzard knows what the end-game is, they're just making this shit up as they go along. I guess they will just keep it going as long as it has subs.

I doubt they will stop with MoP. Legion was a pretty popular expansion and they will likely want to capitalize on that. I suspect they're testing the waters with Legion remix later this year like they did with MoP remix. WoD will be a stumbling block, but they can just rush through it.
after Legion, it gets really questionable. but who knows.

anyway, it won't be catching up with retail for like a decade at this pace if they do keep it going so I doubt they're scrambling for solutions yet. who even knows what retail WoW will look like at that point, if it's still getting new expansions. there might be big changes after the "world soul saga" or whatever it is they're doing.

ToES and IoT were top five raids in WoW.
SoO would also be in top five if it wasn't for the fact I became so depressed replaying it for the thousandth time.

Anyone who doesn't like ToES never played it on hardest difficulty. Absurdly fun raid.
Also Eyeball boss in IoT jesus christ that fight was hard non-geared, we wiped probably hundreds of times on hard difficulty just to get world 8th or some shit.

I do not want to get morally lectured by fucking Taran Zhu and watch one of the coolest anti-heroes get butchered all over again right along with any hope I had of Blizzard taking the focus of the setting back to Horde v. Alliance.
That being said, I remember the gameplay actually being fun and this expansion was the last time I really genuinely enjoyed playing the game. But that had more to do with the friends I had, especially in the RP community - all of which are things that no amount of re-releases can bring back.
