>>715443136>>715445691IX's main appeal is it's multiplayer, with even Japanese fans noting how just the singleplayer is lackluster, and on top of that a remake would need to have local multiplayer still to try to recapture the magic it had in Japan, but that's only possible on Switch, which isn't a very portable system anyways compared to carrying a DS in your pocket. Some Japanese fans say a IX remake would only be realistic on mobile phones.
X also expanded upon and did a lot of what IX wanted to do better than IX, so for some people, IX doesn't really have a purpose.
Seeing as how IX has gone 16 years, the longest of any main game in the series without a port or remake, I honestly doubt they'll do one, at least maybe not until X dies. I could see Square looking at a IX remake as a competitor to X.
