Maybe better if comparing 6 to 7 on PS1, but 3DS made a bigger mess of the job system by not letting you keep any skills/spells between jobs except for the low-level ones, plus axing the hybrid skill unlocks. So what if it breaks the game? You show the effort, you get the goods, and you should be able to keep them.

Personally, I prefer Dragon Quest when there's no job system and each party member has a pre-set role, but there's some catharsis in just chilling and grinding the job system to become walking deities.

You mean, a fan-patch that actually replaces the text? In THIS game, with so much text to cover? There's a reason why the official localization cheaped out.

If the re-remake ends up being real, then I hope they don't force costume changes on the party when job changing. At the very least, have the option to keep the default outfits no matter the job.

And for the love of God, don't cripple the wolf boy again. Having him always riding his wolf just looks stupid.

DQVII was the 1st DQ I ever played (PS1).
I was really charmed by it, how when you start off there are no monsters and combat for a while. I didn't feel bored because this was atypical from most jrpgs I had played. I liked exploring around.
Never beat it or got THAT far in to it. But it stuck with me.

DQVII includes lots of useless classes and 1/3 of the skills are either shit or repeat the effects of others skills, while in DQVI having less classes meant that each one had a proper role, what do the Sheppard or Mariner even do besides being used to get advanced classes?
>>715441593
The skill revamp in DQVII3DS was done so classes would feel more unique, in DQVI&VII if the class didn't have a gimmick (steal, recruit, lower MP consumption, etc) you would better off using an advanced class if you where done grinding skills.
Love DQVII, my fav PS RPG on the console but I can see why people shit on it.

Why DQ7 first, though? I mean, the Zenithia games are always popular, especially with how Psaro recently got his own title in the DQ Monsters line, and DQ8 is pretty much THE Dragon Quest that put the franchise on the map in America. I'd think they would be picked over 7 to get the HD2D treatment next after the original trilogy.

The least coherent dragon quest by a lot.
Game doesn't reveal the bad guy til theres only about 5-10 hours left in the game. The throughline plot is barebones and lame, the party is awful, the nursery rhyme towns are bland, the fragment hunting is fucking gay, the classes are cool but the combat is overly easy. Definitely on the lower end of Dragon Quest games

Adding on to this, in the original PS1 game, Aira/Aishe is set up to get the Sword Dance skill as soon as she hits her next job level in Warrior since she's already maxed as a Dancer. It makes thematic sense with her character, and 3DS even gives her a unique attack animation for it.

Look at how long it took for III HD2D to come out, how long XII has been in development with nothing to show but a logo, and how I&II HD2D has been getting worked on at the same time for at least a year, and then tell me how realistic you think it is for the biggest and longest DQ to get a brand new remake (not a port of the previous one) that releases at the end of the year or in the first quarter of the next year.

It's most likely just a port of the 3DS version that's scalable to higher resolutions and compatible with PS5/Xbox controllers.
Which is not bad per se, as a PC player the only mainline we got (outside of the recent 123 remakes) is XI.

IX's main appeal is it's multiplayer, with even Japanese fans noting how just the singleplayer is lackluster, and on top of that a remake would need to have local multiplayer still to try to recapture the magic it had in Japan, but that's only possible on Switch, which isn't a very portable system anyways compared to carrying a DS in your pocket. Some Japanese fans say a IX remake would only be realistic on mobile phones.
X also expanded upon and did a lot of what IX wanted to do better than IX, so for some people, IX doesn't really have a purpose.

Seeing as how IX has gone 16 years, the longest of any main game in the series without a port or remake, I honestly doubt they'll do one, at least maybe not until X dies. I could see Square looking at a IX remake as a competitor to X.

Don't use cheatcodes they will fuck your save, for example you will have to redo previous done quests to access some of the dlc quests which will cause duplicate items, also they will re activate old quest causing glitches, talking to the Leviathan girl will cause the player to walk through walls.
Use a save editor, is safer.

The "leak" implies that its not a simple port and is instead a new remake.
They also mention IV HD2D as a thing that has already been put out too, lumping it with I, II, and III, and saying its not like those remakes, which makes them look extra retarded.

>DQIX
>Single player is lack luster
People keep on saying this shit but besides trading maps (you can get new ones without multiplayer) and upgrading Erin's inn (which only changes the inn appearance) the game can be played solo all the way through, is just like DQIII.

The game can be played solo, but its boring compared to other DQs and especially boring compared to playing through it with friends and doing 4 player grotto hunting.
The multiplayer is what made IX.

Everything is more fun with friends, but DQIX is far from being a boring game even solo.

Regardless, they can't remake the game unless the multiplayer recaptures that same magic, or else it'll flop in Japan, Japanese fans want to still have local multiplayer with it, while in the west I'm pretty sure everyone just want online multiplayer for it.
It would be a big flop worldwide if it released with no multiplayer at all though.

And it'll be a more miserable experience since a lot of the key features hinge on doing multiplayer to lighten the load.

>9 remake when
If I can't make a slew of NPC's like the original, I don't want it. That was the best part of IX. I need to fire up VII again.

It's kind of in a weird spot between the Zenithia trio and DQ8. DQ6 was already going through feature bloat, and 7 increased it exponentially. Plus it was on PS1 which had already been established as a Final Fantasy machine thanks to FFVII.
