This. You can test the Hensha double-layed city yourself with a couple pencils and two sheets of paper. Align the two pieces of paper and poke the pencils through, eraser side down. Then adjust the sheets so they're several inches apart. Make sure the pencils were poked through spaced apart so that they can all stand upright when the model is constructed.
Prest-o! The physics are sound. The second layer holds up.

Originally they planned to have you go down to the city, but they couldn't figure out a way to fit it into the story.
A lot of the concepts for Montreal they apparently reused for London in DXMD, and then they got told to cut that too.

Why does Detroit look like it's in some bombed out country of the middle east when cities like New York exist?
The simple explanation is China left Hong Kong to rot and puts their resources towards other cities.
Actually it's because the devs didn't give a flying fuck about trying to match things up with DX1 aesthetically, technologically, or narratively and just wanted to make a cyberpunk game.

>to a Europoor town
Prague fits the aesthetics and vibe of DX1 much better. They really shot themselves in the foot with Human Revolution's Cyberpunk Renaissance and had to try and come up with a reason why the world lost all this technology.
They blame it all on the Aug Incident and say that most of the augmented people were shipped off to concentration cities never to be seen again which is why nobody you meet except like 5 people are augmented in DX1.

>MD is a mess of a game
It's half a game. It's perfectly fine other than that they ended it at what felt like a mid-game boss rather than the actual ending. And to be certain that there would never be a sequel, they spoiled everything that was supposed to happen in-game through the credits news reel.
Very disappointing. HR feels complete (And it really didn't need the missing link which I feel ruins the pacing in DC). MD is clearly missing half the game.

I always purposefully used the naturals-only trains and lines since it makes everyone seethe and there's no consequences to me. The developers kinda failed to convey the message (beyond the fact that augmented people are objectively dangerous within the game's logic).

They did convey the message. At most you'll get are dirty looks and a "Don't try that again aug!" because nobody actually wants to fuck with a superhuman soldier who could kill them in the blink of an eye.

It's a bit different when instead of just having a different skin color, you've got swords, guns, and missiles embedded in your arms and your eyes can tag a dozen different targets and kill them all in under 2 seconds.
The reason Adam gets away with shit is because he's a literal walking tank. Augmented people who aren't supersoldiers and instead just have things like smartphones embedded in their eyes or basic augmented limbs are much more likely to face arrest because they can't fight back.
Adam is the exception, not the rule.

I could be wrong about this, but I heard that the reason we don't make massive structures like this is because the surface of the planet moves and shifts. There is a name for this phenomenon but it escapes me at the moment.

NTA. There is one. Level reset, meaning you need to store or sell items you find or leave them and not pick them up, because anything you drop anywhere, even in your own appartment, will be erased. HR did not have that, meaning you can deck your flat with all the guns/consumables you find, and by the second time you come back to Detroit, they will be waiting for you.

I so do wish HR and MD had a proper weapons locker - like 3 separate max inventories of Jensen, and allowed storing multiples of identical weapons.
