Why are pure action games so unpopular on Steam? Why does everything need to have some mindless stat grinding RPG system to grab the attention of the average PC player?

Gamers have been groomed to just following checklists of activities. Action games isn't really that good at it compared to numbers go up or open world games.

Because the popularization of video games has brought normalfags who want immersive, long interactive experiences where they feel like they are progressing and building something big.
Have you ever noticed that most video game consumers don't consume things like, I don't know... chess or backgammon boards, in the same avid way? The reason is because most people aren't really interested in learning the rules of a game and starting to refine their skills, they're interested in epic experiences full of audio-visual content.
That's why I always say: AIs, if they continue to evolve, won't improve video games, they'll make video games obsolete. That's because AIs that can, for example, generate interactive videos in real time, will be infinitely more appealing to normalfags. They will abandon video games en masse as soon as AIs are offering epic narratives for them to immerse themselves in and interact with. And then you'll see the video games industry shrink and become tiny, with most games becoming action and arcade-focused.

It's great. Unless you really like the graphics though you should get the Master Collection first, since that comes with all 3 games mostly at their best. 2B slightly improves on S2, but if you like the look of it it's also a good intro to the series and you can consider the collection after.

AI would just be video, with the content generated being influenced by the user. In other words, normalfags will all be watching movies generated in real time according to their suggestions in the distant future, and will no longer be playing video games.
