As a huge fan of Dragon's Dogma and Metal Gear Solid, that's a hell of a stretch, considering Dragon's Dogma was a new IP, made by a guy who was jumping into a somewhat similar genre but hugely different genre, coming off the somewhat controversial DMC4 that sold half of what MGS4 did, with no doubt a budget that was likely half of (if not less) than MGSV.
Not to mention that while Dragon's Dogma is pretty much the vidya equivalent of brevity being the soul of wit and rough in some narrative areas, it is in all respects a finished product, while MGSV is just outright is an unfinished game, confirmed both by the creator and the production company he divorced.
>tl;dr
They're not comparable at all in context.

None of the above. MGS3's setting and story is embarrassing and the gameplay is a fucking snooze.
If you have to, just watch the cutscenes online and listen to the vocal tracks.

I know that the context is different but the end result is still somewhat similar, the product itself at the end of the day it's mostly wasted potential but still great overall so it shouldn't warrant so much hate when the other option is just not having any game to play at all or having something like DD2
>it is in all respects a finished product

MGSV’s problem is that the consoles gimped the stealth. If there’s more than several light sources in the area then the fps tanks below 50. Kojima had to remove headlights and enemy gun lights which downgraded a lot of what made GZ good

MGSV is good if you're not an autist and get number crunchy with extracting everything. Play it like you're a pirate looting and pillaging and use lethal over using the frankly overpowered tranq and fulton system, and it becomes a true big boss war crime simulator.
The gimmick is big boss was whatever you, the player, wanted him to be. He can be an angel on the battlefield or a demon. People who say you play as an avenger hero are missing the point. The story is intentionally written to feel more evil if you play the game play like you're evil.

Did you ever realize the demon scene is a cut forward, and not a hallucination? There's gunfire. It's a cut forward to metal gear 1. He has ptsd of this scene when he's walking down to confront solid snake, and that's what you see and hear when he turns into a demon in the hallway. It's a flash forward, not a hallucination.

Makes it have a lot more evil undertones on both a demon and regular playthrough.

The series has worse. MGS4 had similarly high expectations for it and is a much worse game. Portable Ops is a total turd.

TPP has its faults but I like it overall.

I kinda understand going for the body double thing, at this point BB is the head of operations, he likely doesn't do much field work at all, so getting another guy to do that makes sense
That being said, getting an ACTUAL Metal Gear game (infiltrating an area and sneaking around enemies, collecting resources and gear, none of that open world and management gameplay) in the Fox engine would've been actually kino

I'd honestly say wait for Delta if you plan to play it. From everything we've seen, it's 95% OG MGS3, with a new coat of paint and some (optionally) updated gameplay. It's not a remake in the way RE4R or SH2 is, where it's a new game with the same story beats as the original. Delta is being built on the bones of MGS3, so the experience will be very similar to the original. Cutscenes and voice acting are the same, maps are the same, gameplay can be the same if desired or use updated controls, etc.

Given all that, I think you'll just water down your experience playing Delta by playing the original first, while for those other games I mentioned, the original still presents a unique experience to go through.

I would like a non open world remake of both of them. I’ve played them both as a novelty, but it’s something I’ll never do again unlike mgs1-3. At the same time, I hope they never do it, because this generation of devs will butcher the project and it’ll be complete ass. It also wouldn’t feel right without Kojima, because unlike the mgs3 remake, they will need to fill in a lot of details that aren’t in the original games.

I don’t seethe about it, I just wish it followed Ground Zeroes format of a tightly constructed set of 1-2 hour missions with real set pieces all the way through. I don’t want to ride my horse across the map to the real content. Also, I had a psp, and spent a lot of time on the base building in Peace Walker. I don’t want to do it anymore.

Well yeah, a large chunk of the games problems are a result of its technical limitations and self-contained maps that don't force the game to render a shitload of other geometry would allow them to make actual levels.

The chore of deployment is a distinguishing feature some people dislike though, so of course that would be true for them. I don't mind it so much myself, but it's a big factor, and in all likelihood would have afforded better outposts and bases with more layers.

I think the game being able to render more than 12 enemies at a time would have ended up in many more environments like Camp OKB rather than what we got, yes.
