I played Dirge once on release, and even as someone willing to overlook a bunch of flaws to play a shooter set in the FF7 setting I still thought it was a steaming pile of shit.
The director wanted to make "Japan's Half-Life". I know some contrarian little retard is going to say he did, but holy shit how do you fuck up that badly?

It's a decently enjoyable action RPG/shooter, and even with it's myriad of cutscenes it's still paced better than any JRPG in existence, and is more fun to play than FF7 despite what s-oylennials tell me. It also mogs either of the remakes too. My only point of contention is that a lot of the areas are narrow and don't mesh well with the third-person camera.

Hyperbole, I've played far worse shooters than this. Dirge is enjoyable, especially it's soundtrack. It only suffers from being an Advent Children-era plot, with melodramatic anime shit. But in that sense it's par for the course for modern Square.

I'm sure it'd be good with KB+M controls. Always meant to go back with all the new mouse injectors.
