Gyro + Sticks are much much better as the distance and comfortability for most is better with how close the stick is to the buttons. Thus still rendering trackpads in gaming completely useless. Yes, the stick is more ergonomically placed. But it's not more accurate. And typically on controllers the stick is place right where the deck's trackpad is anyway, so it's not an issue. The deck is an extremely ergonomic and comfortable device to hold and use.

Trackpads on PC handhelds are legit fucking worthless. Nobody asked for this half-baked gimmick. You already have sticks, buttons, triggers, gyro AND a damn touchscreen why the hell do you need two baby-ass laptop nubs pretending to be useful? Valve is working on a Deck 2. Their estimate is 1-2 years off as they wait for better hardware that has significantly better performance without being a huge drain on battery life. They're also working on an ARM translation layer for unknown reasons that could come into play for future Decks.
