is this really a max payne game? I played it around release and only remember some airport section with sweet tunes and good gameplay. but the rest is pretty much a blur. I wish I was playing max payne 1 instead

honestly, one of my favorite shooters of all time. maybe better than the original max payne, but it's not really fair to compare games with so much time apart

yes anon the
>shoot 7 guys
>shoot 10 guys
>shoot molotov in the air scene
>shoot 6 guys
>shoot many guys in bullet time cutscene
is the best part of it and it plays incredibly well even a decade after launch
>airport section with sweet tunes
here you go, definitily a highlight for many but not the only memorable part, for me it's actually panama and the graveyard, they even sampled the crying kid if I remember correctly

what's even funnier is that the cutscenes are disguised as loading screens when it says "loading" when in reality it's not loading shit past a certain point
I literally can't find a reason why would they ever decide to do this, it's almost like someone is so narcissistic and full of themseles that they force you to watch their bullshit instead of skipping it and getting to the actual game part, nobody cares about shitty exposition just let me play the damn game

Yes and no. Wasn't made by Remedy. Also it wouldn't be so bad if you could skip the cutscenes.

Gunplay is probably the best in the series. Story, cutscenes and the general atmosphere hold it back significantly.

Would Russia have been a better setting for a Max Payne game? I think dropping it for Brasil was disastrous. Story and the setting were way to bombastic and in your face.

You enjoy the game switching out your weapons because the cutscene demands it?

If you never played the original MP games, sure you can think that.

I just read what that other anon said about cutscenes being there to dissimulate the loading screens. So it's built like that and nobody can do shit about it?
OP isn't even exaggerating, it really is "kill a couple of schmucks and goons and then watch another not so great cutscene about bald sam trotting around with screen filters distorting the screen".A giant middle finger of a game.

Haven't played it, but looking at the videos it seems like skipping cutscenes would leave you in really awkward positions flying through midair or standing in front of dudes and getting shot in the face. It looks designed to have you paying attention the whole time. It would probably be a bad idea if new players would be prone to skipping, maybe accidentally, then getting shot due to having no spatial orientation and having to watch the cutscene again.

um, are you retarded?
I literally said
>past a certain point
said amount of time is obviously fixed because the amount of data is fixed and so is the speed (obiously all in approximation)
but some of the cutscenes are not even used to load anything, you are literally just watching a movie, source: check out the skip cutscenes mod page, skipping some can actually crash your game, or what about cutscenes in the same level literally that are too long to loading anything substantial

in part it's because they made it based on the shitty ass 7th gen console HDD, in part because they wanted to break the flow and let you see their stupid ass movie

it's some specific cutscenes in some specific chapters
>It looks designed to have you paying attention the whole time
yeah that's kinda the whole point, even at the cost of lying that they are loading shit

Well we can agree on that, MP3 is very stupid both as a game and as a story.

you to include the argument in the post lil bro
op himself confirms it, probably the best highlight of the entire game, the song is catchy and memorable, if it doesn't align with your autistic definition of noir then it's only a (You) problem

If you ever try the arcade mode in MP3, it's very quickly apparent how much heavy lifting the cutscenes must do behind the scenes.
You wouldn't skip most of them while playing normally, so it's only here that you realize how many of them are actually entirely unskippable (even though there's a "Press Enter to skip" prompt). Totally mandatory 1-3 minutes of cutscenes until the next part you can actually play. Love the game but it's not the most replayable because of this.

Anyway yeah, it's all obviously to disguise loads, just an unavoidable symptom of that era (see: elevators, the "God of War tight gap shuffle", etc).
