How about developers stop making their single player games with always online features? The new Hitman trilogy doesn't require the internet for it to run, and yet they force you to be sync'd with their servers at all times. They aren't even bad games, closest we got to Blood Money in ages, yet they still carry that burden. And yes, I am aware of peacock, which is why I am confident the games can run work without being online

SKG is more than just laws ensuring game companies can’t abruptly shit down games people paid for. It’s about control.
Game companies could easily provide server tools to the public or simply have an end of service announcement posted before release dates. They have 0 issue doing that.
The reason why big companies are shitting themselves over SKG because GaaS and that shit is all about control. They want games that can be shut down at any time so you’re forced to play the sequels.
They want you to be used to buying things not actually being bought and instead being rented even though they said you bought the game.
They want to be able to ban you from game/console for petty reasons so you’re forced to rebuy the $80/$450 game/console.
With SKG, they’d have to use more honest and ethical business practices, which means profits are only 10s of millions instead of 100s of millions.

I don't know why you're inclined to defend business practices that target lowest common denominator of the general public, but I suspect it's because you're a member of them. It should be obvious to any adult that choosing not to buy something doesn't create the opposite effect of buying it, so sometimes minor government intervention is needed when a huge portion of a gigantic industry is a scam.

No.
I want equality, to have my countrymen to be rich.
The top 0.1% owns more money than rest of the people combined. Do they work as hard for it? Have they worked as hard for it?
I doubt.
But
Did they inherit some of it? Did they lie, scam, or took advantage of others for it? Did they make other people's lives worse to get that wealth?
If even one of those are true, then by God almighty why would I have any pity for such people who takes advantage of others for their personal gain? I will never want to be such "human" who treats others as numbers just to make more money.
Who the fuck wants to be voluntarily that kind of person who you find on Epstein's book? Well at least they get people defending them but my parents raised me straight and honest.

I don't understand why there's such a strong contrarian stance against this, all a multiplayer game would need to do is make it so that players can host and find their own games without needing to use the developer's dedicated servers which is something a lot of older and indie games already do, and all an always online live service would need to do is make the game playable offline without an internet connection and allow for P2P if the game has co-op, which again are things a lot of older and indie games already do.

MMOs either need single player variants or should allow for players to set up their own private servers, a thing which people already do illegally for preservation purposes

We need laws like these because
A. Capitalism is competitive for PROFIT, not a better product. Lolbertarians conflate the 2 and don’t understand that profit also includes corner cutting and unethical business practices.
B. Le Voting with Your Wallet is retarded. Imagine being able to vote for legislation directly. But instead of Yes/No/Abstain, your voting options are just Yes/Abstain.
And Yes can vote as many times as they like like Abstain gets to just not vote once.
And instead of Yes requiring 50% majority or even 60% super majority, Yes only requires enough profit to be made.
Vwyw is a system that heavily favors shitty business practices because of that.

This is about more than just personal experience,
it's about everything a game closure stands for
>developer doesn't get their legacy retained
>future interested people don't get the option to ever try it after it's gone (unless pirating, if possible)
>They don't just remove an online element, they remove the entire thing, regardless of potential singleplayer campaign or offline functioning parts
>It inevitably emboldens the suits to start shutting down old games just to sell the new similar game/sequel
