Bought a like-new PS2 controller, confirmed not a clone, and for some reason it feels like cheap shit in my hands. Not sure if it's just because the console's 20+ years old or if it was nicer in my memories than in reality

my biggest issue with the PS1 is and will always be the 2 controller ports vs 4 on the N64. back then there was literally nothing better than playing smash, mario kart/party, etc with 4 fucking people on split screen, shit was epic

The devs had cool hardware and just figured out 3D games. They also had big budgets and didn't care for focus groups. So the PS2 has a vast and diverse library of cool games.

PS2 had some good games released for it but was terrible hardware. I never cared for it as much as some of you guys and I modded mine and had a stack of burned games and later a hard drive. I have no nostalgia for this thing at all. One of the reasons you guys probably brag about it besides nostalgia is the total hardware sales but they sold 50 million of the things after the PS3 came out, mostly through a budget launch in South American countries. 360 already had an established library when the PS2 crossed the 100 million mark and on life support yet it sold 50% more units for some reason and not because it was “the king”

I would get a PS1 with an sd card mod. Modding a PS2 is trivial, but I don't think there's a good way to run PS1 games on it without the disc. I would personally emulate PS1 and mod a PS2
