Yea I played it recently expecting it to be an extremely average heckin' comfy indie puzzle game but it ended up being kinda incredible
extremely atmospheric, really good map that feels really satisfying to understand
extremely interesting uses for items
and some of the post-credits content is really fun
I was thinking about how to solve some puzzles while I was away from the game which is something I haven't really felt in a long time (actively wanting to play it when I can't and thinking about what to do next)
I loved it and I was primed to hate it beforehand because dunkey published it
>>715483154
The only part thats like this is the very very end game content (layers 3 and 4)
You can get both credits easily without any guide
I didn't use a guide a single time
The only thing that got spoiled for me was how to get fast travel but that was an obvious enough puzzle

Pretty fun and it has lots of neat trickjumps and movement tech that let you sequence break, but since the game is well designed it'll often feel like you're still on the intended path. Once you get all the way towards the end the puzzles get a bit much though since I think they were pretty much intended for a community to puzzle out.

I'm gonna have to start all over again, it's been like a year since I last played it so I know I'm gonna have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. Also, will need to start taking notes to keep that from happening again.

I know that apparently some of the mysteries in this game go pretty deep and I doubt I'll be able to solve them myself so I'll try everything I can before giving in and seeing what the solution is.

It's a solid metroidvania. I got filtered 2 times, the first was the cat puzzles, because I retardedly skipped over one location because I thought I'd already been there and found nothing and I never figured out that the bouncy ball could become a breakout minigame
Managed to get 57/64 eggs on my own though.
There's obviously even deeper shit that I could try and do, but I don't think it's worth it.

Yes and no. Mostly yes, but a little no depending on how into finding secrets you are, because it actually is a massive part of the game.
There are some collectibles to find and you can do that by yourself, but then there's a kind of meta element that requires multiple people exchanging notes and looking up things online.
I got about 30 hours out of it just exploring and enjoying the atmosphere. If you're into games like Knytt Stories, I think you might have a very good time.

Something about the way it moves just invokes cat for me. I realize now that it makes no sense, but it just feels like a cat. Even the sound effects sound kinda cat like, as if it's slowed down and distorted meowing.
It actually did spook me quite a bit and when I solved the puzzle relating to that, I felt very smart.

I finished it but it didn't really hook me like everyone else obsessing over it
I also wouldn't really call it a platformer like its labeled, its more of a puzzle game
I probably would have liked it more in my younger years but I dont have the time or patience for this kind of intentionally obtuse shit these days

Unlike La-Mulana/TUNIC/Void Stranger etc, there is no story or theme behind all of that cryptic puzzles.
The meat of the game is just puzzles and your reward for solving cryptic puzzle is just another cryptic puzzle.

Itโ€™s good up until you get to the bunny post game puzzles. Most are possible to solve on your own but thereโ€™s one single puzzle that is literally impossible to solve without looking up a guide or having 15 other people playing it.

There's maybe not a lot of story but there's a ton of world to Animal Well
Its not just sterile puzzle solving
There's a thick atmosphere and clearly SOMETHING has happened down there, its just the game doesn't get into it really.
There are a number of characters and overall I found the environments really interesting.
You make it sound like Portal minus Glados or something when it has way more personality

Yea everything after the 2nd credits is basically like ARG tier stuff and isn't really meant to be a part of the game in the sense of a single person completing it
I know this upsets some autists but the game only has 2 credits for a reason
You've more or less beaten the game by the time you get to layer 3

It's good if you know when to stop playing. I actually kind of like that it's up to the player to decide how many "layers" deep they're really willing to go, but you don't need to see literally everything in order to be satisfied with your stopping point.

You can tackle it yourself, but I don't recommend it. Anyway, you're referring to a single post-postgame easter egg of a puzzle with no meaningful rewards. It's dozens of hours in, not 5.5.

You received an opinion from elsewhere and absorbed it without critical thought. And now you are trying to transmit your received opinion to others. Why are you like this? Just admit that you're impressionable and ignorant and that you don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, fully.
It's a pretty game with good design ideas that plays well. The base game is 20-30 hours (without ARG or googling or anything), I only completed the base game plus all eggs which I know is only one or two layers in. I do know there's a code in the eggs and I kinda want to get back to it but I want to work on other shit from my backlog - this game absorbs you like >>715483879 mentions, as all good puzzle games do

I did finish the egg part and got some rabbits but after that I kind of gave up and had to look up the others.
I wouldn't have mind the cryptic stuff if it wasn't for things like the barcode bunny or the mural.
Like at least put a cipher for the barcode grass in the game files or something. Maybe I'm just being petty but it think puzzle games should include methods to (completely) finish them offline with all the needed equipment in the game folder. With exceptions for note taking since everyone should be expected to have some way to draw or write stuff down.
Or maybe you CAN do it all and it was just too cryptic for me.

Great game, only thing I didnโ€™t like was how unsatisfying finishing layer 2 was. You get to the bunny island and thatโ€™s it.

The bunnyโ€™s are cool, lots of bullshit and needing a community to work on it means that it was solved within a week, which kind of sucks.
