Cheating in games is based and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. There is literally nothing wrong with making the game as easy as possible, so long as you're still having fun.

cheating is gay. what's based is using speedhacks (in single player games)

I feel like the only thing I used GameShark on PS2 for was removing the text length limits on the Tony Hawk series for multiplayer, since they supported USB keyboard, but the msg length was fucking short.

Game has no problem sending/receiving much longer messages.

I stopped using cheats (and guides) because I realized, what's the point in playing the game if I'm just pressing the buttons?

But yeah cheats to unlock stuff or in a Free Mode type of thing are fine.

So, achievements were largely to blame for the death of cheat devices like those and cheat codes, right? I know they had that achievements disabled shit, but shortly after it just kind of stopped.

Cheat codes are fine in non-online modes.

Especially stuff like Bighead and Paintball mode.

hypervisors killed these things. there's now a security chain of trust when booting games. before there really wasn't except for whatever solution was baked into the disc or disc reader.

ps3 & 360 started it. wii didnt have it so that's why they still had working action replay. wii u finally did it and it followed into switch and beyond.

I'd say microtransactions.

Why unlock a character through playing the game when you can just pay for it?

There's a Gameshark 2?
I had the Gameshark for N64 and all I ever used it for was to use "press L to levitate" in Ocarina of Time. Good times.

The only cheats I really like to use are ones that skip grinds. I HATE wasting time grinding, so why do what will take 10 hours of gameplay, when I can just do it in 5 minutes?

Made Dragon Quarter more bearable to play with disabling the D-Counter.

Why would you play a game that requires grinds in the first place? The real grind should be learning skills ideally ones that are actually based in real life, or vice versa

You have to mod your console in order to use cheats these days.
