What made it a kino masterpiece while the sequel is a soulless, phoned-in turd?

mp2 would be better if it had more than 3 maps

all the interesting bits had already been done. they really just wanted an excuse to rig the final fight against Vlad.

I just beat them both back to back for the first time. MP1 blew MP2 away

I only played the first game but it's one of those games that really does the gritty urban atmosphere very well. I miss when Rockstar specialized in this.

Max Payne vs Max Payne 2 is just like The Terminator vs Terminator 2. The first one is gritty, atmospheric, taut, and unsettling, while the sequel is too polished, sterile, and has retarded characters.

They still published it, and they were still developing kino like Manhunt at the time.

They did the console versions of MP1. I don't remember who published MP1 for PC but it wasn't Rockstar.

>bogged down by constant cutscenes and narrative sections
>shit level design
>neutered the difficulty
>made bullet-time a literal superpower
>lacks the gritty atmosphere and lived-in spaces of the original
>has the most inane, forced story with a completely unlikable cast
>ugly ass motion blur effect everywhere
Gee, I wonder why people would prefer the original.

It's actually a bit impressive they somehow managed to make the gameplay worse overall, despite movement, aiming, and physics being vastly improved.

Good. Consolefags need to stay out of PC game threads.

MP1 and MP2 released simultaneously on console and sold better than PC.

Those are arguably the best versions of the games too.

You do know that a simultaneous release would mean that they came out at the same time, right?
