i mean, i enjoy plenty of jap slop archetypes and i am just a huge final fantasy enjoyer. i just can't justify spending money on mmos when i know that the thunderspy city of heros server is right there forever and i can kill mooks in that by myself without ever needing anything else. Variety would be nice though i guess. I also think the ffxiv job system looks genuinely fun compared to most other mmos, not enough to pay a subscription fee though.

Yes because i missed out on the original WoW. I got to play a bit of what it was like on private servers but didn't know how to into the social part. I just liked the world and lore a lot. I didn't know how to into PVP or any of that.

Unless you download three different servers and clients then manually migrate your characters between each expansion I don't think it's possible, the closest thing you'll get is running WotLK with the Individual Progression module but then you'll still have WotLK talents and class design which IMO are a clear upgrade over vanilla but everyone's taste is different.

I've never used it but yes, to my knowledge it makes progression linear in the sense that you have to clear MC before you're allowed to move on to BWL which must be cleared before AQ and so on. It also reverts Naxxramas to the level 60 version which I assume is the final content to clear before you're allowed to enter the dark portal. Not sure if it restores server events like the war effort to open AQ, but you can read more here:

Yea looking back I pretty much played all of vanilla to work as a solo experience, except for dungeons. Never raided either.

Some of the most fun I've had were grouping with people for Scarlet Monastery and Shadowfang Keep in vanilla. Making the run across Hillsbrad into Tirisfal Glades felt like an epic adventure.

I guess for the novelty but I’d rather have AI for an actual single player tailored rpg at that point. An Elder Scrolls with LLM and Voice synthesis would go hard

It's nowhere near advanced enough to justify, but all I would need is:

I did for a while but it felt too melancholic with all the memories of playing it for real. But a leveling simulator/dungeon crawler with the gameplay and aesthetic of WoW that you play offline sounds great. Basically a more modern take on Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale etc but less focus on characters and plot. I don't think there's a market for it tho.

For those that like WoW's smooth combat and movement you can basically just treat it as a non-isometric ARPGs. Quests are just there to serve as filler to take you from A to B while you kill shit, find new gear and improve it.

To actually sell a game? Probably not, but hobbyists are working on projects like this for free. A friend of mine has a discord for his repack and it has 650~ users with probably more downloads for non-discord forum links. The repack community discord has 607 online users atm, doesn't show the offline count.
