The real draw of Satisfactory over Factorio is the physicality of being inside your factory, and the ability to fuck about and explore as a complement to the automation loop. 3D takes essentially all the pressure off of optimizing for space but also allows for some really interesting factory layouts.

Factorio is one of the more extreme examples of the genre (short of some super obscure command promp simulator). Very good at what it does, but difficult to break into.

that's what really puts satisfactory over the top for me; actually making your factories look like factories. its one layer of enjoyment to build the machines and get the math right for production, but its a whole other layer of enjoyment to build catwalks, bridges, etc. over your machines and then closing everything up in huge windowed industrial buildings with the correct signage and whatnot. it really scratches the creative itch in a fun way.

I never go full factory but I enjoy that the options are there, and if nothing else I really like ladders and concrete pillars.

Unrelated, I played to the end of nuclear before but this is my first time in 1.0, and I'm still not sure if the QoL from being able to upload shit to the cloud is worth the complete absolution from any logistics regarding creation of a personal stockpile. You can have an iron vein on the ass-end of nowhere making all the rods and plates you'll ever need, and they'll just quietly go into the cloud instead of needing to be routed to the Hub one way or another.

The dev is a huge kike that increased the price because of inflation and released a DLC for the same price as new adjusted price of the full game. He also said he'll never put it on sale and he'll keep raising the price over time as he sees fit. People defend this behavior.

Opus Magnum is peak chill-tism. You start optimizing because you want to, not because the game demands perfection. Then suddenly you've sunk 4 hours into shaving off one cycle from your amber synthesis and you feel like a wizard. Last Call BBS gives you the sampler platter, but if you're gonna get hooked, it'll be on Opus.

Me and my buddies play Satisfactory together.
One of us has been mostly making a Mario Kart course out it factory pieces, to race with the forklifts.
Another one of us has a fascination with making giant fucking conveyor lines to solve easy problems.

Oh, yeah, it's great, make no mistake.
It's just. Y'know. Sometimes you get distracted from your project, have to go get some cable or encased beams or whatever, and come back, and every single output has been merged onto a conveyor taking it god knows where, and you have to put a bunch of smart splitters in to pull all the pipes back off, because fuck if you can make sense of the conveyor spider, and you needed those to make heavy frames or some shit.
We actually work really well together, though. I like going off in weird directions, setting up localized industrial bases to make stuff in-house, which typically leads to a lot of shit just feeding into box skyscrapers I stop caring about once my need is done, they scavenge off my waste and send it to people working on their own thing, that don't like setting up reinforced plates somewhere. We balance eachother's neuroticisms well.

The system I have is my buddy will make quick and dirty factories that function and push us towards a goal if inefficiently and clumsily, and I'll set up blueprints and plan out alternate recipes to refine the factory into something higher scale once the immediate need isn't as dire. It's somewhat less important to be efficient now that you can put shit into the cloud, though.

Wrong. When games go on sale on Steam people buy up hundreds of keys then sell them once the sale ends. If a $30 game goes down to $10, once the sale has ended they sell the keys for $20. The dev didn't want to deal with that shit.

It's quite good, just bear in mind that exploration is a key part of mechanical progress and a lot of potential recipes are locked behind finding crash sites in the environment and opening them by either bringing rare materials or supplying enough power. The hard drives can give basic shit like more iron ingots from iron ore if you use a midgame machine to include water or completely revamp how you make endgame materials.
