Concord
How do you fail in TWO WEEKS? I predicted it might last maybe 2 months but two weeks?
It makes no sense to pull the plug so fast, even if it was a flop. Yes, there must be something going on behind the scenes. I'm certain of that. Something... sinister.
Anonymous No.715523646 [Report]
it was an all or nothing power move, of course it makes sense they pull the plug in just two weeks, in fact, they were a week late, the first 3 days was enough of a failure
Anonymous No.715523808 [Report]
There was a battle royale game sequel that got pulled the very next day after its release because only like 12 people played it. You can tell when the writing is on the wall.

Though I lol at the idea of them dragging it out over months with all sorts of enticement tactics to try and build up the community. Sorry concord, we were all busy that weekend, try releasing it again!

600…i just don’t understand how it flopped that hard. Was there literally zero marketing? Was it completely hidden on steam? Were there no trailers, no advertisements, no showcases? I mean I understand thousands of games have the same fate every year but this is a AAA studio we’re talking about. How can a AAA game fail THIS hard, even if it looks like shit? Millions of people out there guy literally any ugly soulless slop out there as long as it had one ounce of forced marketing and manufactured hype. So that begs the question, was there just zero marketing or something? Or was the whole thing really some sort of money laundering scam?

It was also in a saturated market with hero shooters and there was more marketing on the woke aspects than the gameplay, the characters also looked like shit so they couldn't even gooner bait people to play it.

There were highly expensive animated shorts, a special inclusion in an Amazon Prime TV show and was even shown off at one of Doritofag's shows.
The reality that no one wants to accept is that normalfags saw the game(which was revealed through a cinematic trailer so no gameplay) were repulsed by the character designs and interactions that they actively refused to even consider it something they'd want to buy.

People found the spectacle of watching the perfect embodiment of everything that the psychotic corpos insist is the future of gaming implode in real time more entertaining than the prospect of actually playing the game.
>i just don’t understand how it flopped that hard.

The income from sales was very small and most likely only like 2 or 3 of the character skins were selling at all(probably single digit numbers too) so maintaining the game was seen as not worth it. Also the business model there requires constant development of cosmetics and if you don't have income you can't do that so probably they saw the writing on the wall and shut it down. Few days before it was killed they did say that they were figuring out a way to bring it back(probably brainstorming how to turn it into free to play game and whether it would work) but snoy suits most likely said it's not worth the money and effort.

>Competition games all had healthy population
>All of them have a free base game
These were some very key factors. When it basically just played like overwatch, people wondered "why should I pay $70 for this?" And then didn't. Plus, Marvel Rivals was new and getting big, while also being free.
From the multiplayer perspective, it's hard to really charge people for the base game, because the game lives and dies by having an active population. As a possible consumer, you realise that if the population drops, you can't play the game you've paid for, so your money is at risk of being wasted on something you can't play because nobody's online. The vicious cycle continues and nobody buys the game because of it.
Also if there's negativity towards the game (all the faggy idealised shit like diversity and all that faggotry) got it a bad name with even normie gamers, since it's now mainstream to hate on those fags.
It was dead on arrival because they charged for it instaed of going the free with a season pass route, which at least could have maybe maintained a playerbase.

No, they actually advertised it for like 45 mins in an ABSOLUTE STATE OF PLAYSTATION direct.

As soon as it came out the Discount Marvel Guardians were in a Live Service sloppa, everyone tuned out.

IN FACT they ADVERTISED IT SO HARD they had an Amazon TV show episode dedicated to the bomba BEFORE the game relased to be shown AFTER the game released, bombed, and was cancelled.

Sony was drunk and let Jesus take the wheel.

Sony originally wanted to sell their Playstation to Nintendo. Nintendo decided not to and Sony had to get into the gaming industry to recoup their investment.

IIRC Sega America was always trying to tell Sega Japan what was working and what was not in the NA market and Sega Japan just wouldn't listen. This led to Sega America doing certain things independently that Sega Japan really didn't like. After all, Sega America is just a bunch of salespeople! The real genius is Sega Japan's engineers, and they're fucking up that genius by giving gamers what they want!

You are right, there is a more sinister story at the heart of concord. Besides the uninspired designs, the misalignment with modern audiences, and the bland flavorless mulch of post marvel era media is the demon we've always targeted.

Nepotism, not just the normal kind -- trading sexual favors. The creative director of the project, who had no previous creative experience won her way to the position by sleeping with the head of the studio according to my inside sources. The story was well known by people inside the studio, and I wonder if it played a part in the earlier snuffing of the studio.

Consider gamergate and it's implications, now imagine if we had another one with even more concrete evidence and the blood of an entire studio force on its hands. It makes sense that Sony might want to smother it in the cradle, though who can really say for sure?

On top of this, it's important to realize Sony is extremely protective of its brand. Studio execs typically have no idea what they're looking at and or critiquing, but when the whole world is clowning on something it's painfully obvious what needs to be done.
