I soldered in hall sticks to two dualshock 4's because they are the best controller for me. I love their shape, the symmetrical sticks, and they have gyro. I'll probably never need a new controller.

did you ever run into a contact point issue with the mainboard and the plastic circuit? My R2 is outputting noise values even when not being pressed. I tried cleaning the contact points on the mainboard and outright replacing the plastic circuit but still no bueno.

I like the ds4 but I think it's time to bin this one.

Been waiting for a Pro 3 with all the Ultimate/2 goodies and now it's heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere. Bummed that the removable battery is gone but I get it's for the charging dock. Only negative is the ABXY is on the buttons instead of silkscreened onto the controller for the Game Boy colorway like the Game Boy itself and the older Pro models. I get that it's because of the magnetic buttons and changeable layout though.

Since those come with hall effect sticks by default now and the battery life is still good, basically if you want to return it and get a Pro 3 or anything like that

Otherwise it's mostly two macro buttons, the Ultimate 2's dome-switch d-pad, and swappable stick toppers that have changed

I NEED symmetrical sticks and gyro, so the DS4/Dualsense is pretty much my only choice. I also really like the touchpad and haptic meme so it's more or less the only controller I'd consider using in terms of features.
Too bad about the awful sticks and wear prone triggers.

I don't think I'll ever quit my DS3. I just prefer the compact form factor over the way other controllers fill the hand. Gives me more control in games like DMC3 or THPS - which are about the only ones I break a controller out for. Everything else I am pretty firmly entrenched in KB+M control.

I might mod it to have concave triggers though. The convex triggers are the one design element I'm not a fan of. Fingers just slide off when playing Gran Turismo 4.

That's unfortunately a deal breaker. That, and if the numbers on the product page are anything to go by, it'll have really bad input latency.
Probably an incredible controller for Switch owners but I'd only have it for PC so that's another deal breaker.

Personally I say stick to first party primarily. Some 8bitdo's latest (ultimate 2 , pro 3 ) are decent but a lot of 3rd party shit is what bothers the fuck out of me. it SOUNDS great on specs listed but has limitations or implementation bullshit here and there. Requirements to use their shitty Windows only utility, features don't work across different 'modes' and other work arounds etc

That's what I'm talking about and its disappointing. I presume you can kind of get around it by setting it to whatever mode and then getting Steam Input to sort things out but fuck it shouldn't require that kind of work around or to have to set it to a certain mode and use special software and other shit from the manufacturer.
