Is Mario Kart better now that the most skilled player can consistently win instead of the least skilled players cheating wins with their broken items?

the problem with first place is that it's disconnected from the large pack behind it where there's constant items being flung at other players so first place is actually the safest place to be in a race without blue shells. blue shells are kinda needed to balance things out

Actually no it isn't. Do you know of any other driving game that requires you to manage this many mechanics while simultaneously maintaining an efficient racing line? No, you don't, retard. Do you think Max Verstappen could win a race against the Toadette god in the webm? No, he wouldn't. Because his "superior" reaction time and ability to determine a good line is no match for someone who can do all of that and knows when to trick off of walls and fly through shortcuts and knows when to bag and frontrun. You think Little Lewis Hamilton ever sniped someone with a green shell? Do you think he ever item smuggled a mega shroom all the way to lap 3 to dodge shock at the last shortcut and take first place? Do you actually think that, retard? Did Lando Norris ever dodge a banana peel on a rail by tricking over it? Oh, he did not? So what the fuck does he do? Press his foot on the pedal and drive forward and occasionally turn the wheel? You're a joke.

>In a previous Ninteᥒd𐐬 interview, game designer Shintaro Jikumaru revealed that Mario Kart World’ss controls and mechanics heavily referenced extreme sports like skateboarding, snowboarding and BMX – especially when it comes to moves Rail Ride and Wall Ride. Expanding on this comment in the Famitsu interview, Yabuki says that a lot of these mechanics were inspired by Mario Kart World’s development staff, many of whom love skateboarding and similar sports.

>“We even have some staff members who go skateboarding or ride their bikes outside of the development team’s office building during lunch breaks.” According to Yabuki, the programmer who was in charge of vehicle controls is actually an avid fan of not only cars, but also sports like skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing. Having experienced many of them firsthand, the programmer implemented a lot of the elements of these sports into the game in order to make the character controls feel smooth and satisfying.

It will happen sooner or later. I want more kino spinoffs.

Exactly. People forget that the chaos mid-pack IS the gameplay loop for like 80% of players. First place just cruises while everyone else is in a deathmatch throwing bombs and red shells every second. Take blue shells away and you turn the leader into a ghost who never interacts with the core mechanics after lap 1. It's not fun to be in 1st with literal nothing to do, and it's not fun to be in 5th knowing you're just feeding the guy in 1st more distance. Blue shells are the stick that keeps the carrot from getting too far ahead.

Does Nintendo ever do any sports games for sports that aren't popular in Japan? I'm not talking about sports in mini-game collections like Wii Sports or Mario Sports Mix. Usually standalone sports games like Mario Supper Sluggers exist because baseball is incredibly popular in Japan. I'm not sure whether skating is that popular in Japan.

Skating is actually getting pretty popular in Japan, I saw more than a few groups skating around the different cities I was in when I traveled there last year, plus they have that new skateboarding TV show Kasso.

Just have rails/items/boosts disabled if you're ahead. Make them turn on or come out of the ground or something as whomever is in 1st drives past them. Make everyone live in the mix for as long as possible.

>If you interact with the game mechanics and have strong map awareness, you'll win more often
Yes this seems like good game design to me
The only thing in the webm I disagree with is the Boo because getting a Blue Shell dodge + better-than-1st item roll is probably too strong for a first place item

those are all intended paths, it's not like you're exploiting the game like in Melee or some shit
