So how the fuck DID they intend people to beat Insane Mode then? Did they really originally think players were meant to hit everything with stray hits/magic and 5-hit combos 50,000 times until enemies eventually die one or two at a time?

You can beat insane mode without constant juggling, it just takes quite a bit longer. I beat it years ago by just lining everyone up in the path of red knight's lightning magic, run around until it recharges, repeat.

insane mode could just be unfinished like some other things
apparently a lot of the playable characters should've had different attack patterns and apparently the only vestige of that idea is green knight's backflip

what confuses me is why they never went back and finished this before, and why they're now going back to castle crashers after 16 years. the game is old enough to drive lol did their money run out?

This was a time before update overhauls in the console space was considered common practice and when updates did happen they were almost exclusively patchs for bugs

The silhouettes are okay, but I really wish the template, the guide, and the tutorial video were less vague about what they actually want in a panel. The blank face is understandable, but what difference do they want in pic related? Do they want him to blink? Are the torsos supposed to be in motion? Help me, art students.

The first three in the head section are part of an idle head animation that they added with the dlc. Every character I think now rotates the head slightly if they're standing still, that's what these 3 frames are. They included a ring at the bottom with the dot representing the very front of the face, and you can see it change slightly. From what they said in their videos, you don't NEED to do a head rotation and can just treat it like a 3 frame idle, doing whatever you want with it. Make him blink, open and close his mouth, or literally just copy and paste the first frame if you don't give a shit

Same anon again. I want to add that it's still unclear what each frame is supposed to be, and until the dlc is actually out it'll be hard to know how every part actually fits together and what looks good and what doesn't

Two, castle crashers did so well that it pierced the mainstream for a little bit

every game after Battleblock Theatre's been a flop, i think they're just playing it safe
what i don't get is why they don't lean into it and actually revitalize castle crashers. give the spare characters some actual ability/attack variety, make more dungeon-type levels like industrial castle, or just do a sequel

It's actually more to try and re-establish themselves. The friday night funkin website isn't quite so popular with people these days and a lot of people don't know about the behemoth, so they're trying to take advantage of the shit state of gaming right now to point people to their back catalog of good games.
Also, pit people was sort of always screwed because tactical rpgs are wildly unpopular whenever people aren't paid to pretend fire emblem and advance wars aren't shit.
