Act 1 focusing on the Expedition and with Gustave was pure kino. Then they killed him and replaced him with a boring mumble mouth character. It was alright for a little while then it went all weird family drama. I was Act 1 was the whole game

I get it too but it hurts. The Lumiere struggle is ended with act 2 and even when Lune and Sciel are brought back, they barely matter anymore, don't feel as important.

It'd be cliche but I think I'd rather Gus and the gang go full gurren lagan over handing the story to Verso. You could have your cake and eat it too where Gus beats the entire family to death and YAY WE DID IT OH WAIT NO PAINTRESS NO PEOPLE, and get a really meloncholy ending that still communicates that you can't beat the rules, maybe even reveal that a Verso type character created Gus as a means of preordaining bringing an end to all of it. Its not as original but I'd like it more

Yes. I unironically loved how, at the peak of The Simpsons’ golden age, the story would always shift after the first act. I also love bait-and-switch stories in media. I liked how characters like Ned Stark and Leto Atreides were killed, etc.

It's confirmed that they had rewritten the story mid way into development, there were even early trailers where Gustave was playable much later into the game, the problem was that Gustaves VA was working on a different project at the same time so they shrunk his role and got rid of him and rewrote verso into the new MC
