It can be whatever, even just a casual conversation about how you're currently feeling that day, whatever events have been happening recently, or just some worries you might have on your head that you're unsure of how to deal with and would want to ask Jesus to help you with.

I know the idea would immediately sound schizophrenic to some but it definitely does work. I used to for example hold grudges over things people did or said to me, and my hate for them would just fester and make me really bitter and even miserable sometimes because I would randomly just remember the ways I felt like they wronged me, then my mood for the day would be ruined. At some point, I just ended up sincerely talking about it the whole thing to God, told Him how it made me feel and that I no longer wish to feel like that and cling to that hatred I seemed to have and that I wanted Him to help me just let go of it, and, although it did not feel like an immediate effect, I noticed now, a few months after praying on it, then praying again when I felt the feeling creeping in again, I'm no longer festering those feelings of hatred I had before for said people which kept making me feel and miserable and whatnot.

Either way, point is, you just have to talk to Him as if He was a person present with you, because He is, even though you can't "see" Him. Ask Him instead to find a way to show Himself to you, through any way He knows you would personally be most receptive to, and He'll find a way to do that. Sometimes, you might actually hear a voice in your head speaking to you, which you just "know" it's Him. Other times, he gives certain symbolic dreams that you remember in pretty vivid detail when you wake up and can interpret their meaning.

He's there waiting for you to come talk to Him, since He does care about you and wants to hear whatever it is you have on your mind that might confuse you or you need help with, but also wants to share in with the joy or interest you have for things. You just have to be willing to seek Him out with a humble and open heart.

You could technically ask him to "prove" Himself to you, though that usually sounds more like a demand, and people are told they should not test God since scoffers like that would be scoffed at in return and then humbled.
So it's like, you could "demand" he proves Himself as a challenge, and he can reply, but it would be in a way that might embarrass you in some way or make you be humbles as you realize you were speaking with too much pride or confidence over certain things you have no understanding of.

So, if you are actually interested, it's best you just do that which feels genuine to you, go and ask Him to show Himself to you with a humble and open heart. If you do so while feeling silly or stupid that you're basically just "talking to yourself" or to "no one" , mention that out loud as well, just say how stupid the whole situation feels and that you're still not sure about the whole thing yet, that you don't believe, but if possible, you would want Him to help you believe in some way, whatever way He sees fit might best work for you, since everyone is unique, so each experience when it comes to having Him "proven" to you is going to be different in some way.
