I found it very confusing. The only thing I liked from all those things they did was the cartoon that showed the Nibelheim flashback.

Yeah, the action was pure anime nonsense in the best way-Cloud flying through the air doing 50 flips while sword-slapping Bahamut was peak spectacle. And don’t even get me started on that One-Winged Angel remix; Nobuo went feral on that one. Makes zero sense plot-wise unless you've got an FF7 wiki open, but damn if it doesn't look and sound cool.
