The actual baller move would have been to remake FFVII in the exact OG CGI style. Would have been feasible to do as early as PS3 and would have required far less resources than the realismslop they went with. Also I mean an actual remake, not a schizoid sequel to the spin-offs.

Yeah... I wasn't wild about fantasian's character designs/ art direction, but if I had to choose between fantasian style and muh hyperrealism with a pinch of anime, I'd take fantasian 11/10 times

Actually taking a risk would have been the best move.

FF7 was a gigantic gamble on a genre, only Japan found interesting ans was niche at best everywhere else. Nobody had heard of Final Fantasy. It was because of FF7 that the earlierm were being sought out, after it's release. It's because of FF7, that you know about the series now. The gambled, they won.

They haven't gambled since though, just regurgitated. It be dull corporate boring print money, manager made, not enthusiast made soulless, true to the word, soulless shit Square has been putting out. They are still riding, that 1 wave they hit, when they hat talent 1995-2000
