Visual Novel in nothing but name called Class of '09. Meant to be an edgy satire on being an American teenager in 2009. Not even a "subversion" of the genre or anything; the creator just wanted to combine American sitcom style writing with anime-like visuals.

Of course zooomers with a chronic case of anemoia got ahold of the game and now you can't go 2 seconds without seeing "the le edgy game is... le edgy?!?!!111" because the creator doesn't give a rats ass about giving "good" endings to the assholes you play as in the game.

I'm not gonna deny that the dev is an asshole who does like pissing people off. But I've actually done some digging into SBN3 and all that bs people spew out about him does not hold up

It's surreal how it went from "yeah SBN3 is an edgy arse" to stuff like "he doesn't understand his own game and nicole is actually his self insert and he likes feet and these are all valid reasons to hate everything he's made" based on some conjecture ass reddit thread and now you have 45 minute video essays parroting the same crap.

and I will concede that SBN3 flipped from "trying to say something deep" to "seinfield: a show about nothing" every 3 seconds.

my issue lies with how people act as if their interpretations are the objectively correct ones and anything that deviates from their perception is automatically seen as ontologically terrible.
