If you mean you wanna put 100 hours into one playthrough, that ain't happening with old school CRPGs. You gotta replay them or do a bunch of modules.
As for the best games, it's mostly just the Black Isle and Troika games. Maybe the Geneforge games too.

Same with Half life, every other boomer shooter curbstomps it

For me its arcanum, diffrent system than typical dnd, great world and lore that makes you want to explore not just to continue with quest but to learn more about world, kinda funny reaction based on stats and your race, one of best ending in RPG

'100 hours' is a zoomer standard.
If you want something good (but not necessarily long) try Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2, Arcanum, and Planescape Torment, to get the 'classics' out of the way.

Half life gets praised for LE NARRATIVE but System shock did it far better
Half life gets praised for LE SPECTACLE but Unreal did it far better
Blood and Quake also play significantly better.
Also Half life has no music 95% of the time... In the era of soundtracks like Quake 2 and Unreal.
Half life is utterly outclassed at everything it tried. The fact valve got big from it is a complete farce. Its such a terrible game

How has half life influenced anything?

All the other games mentioned have had more actual influence on other games. The smartest thing valve did was hire a PR team to make NPCs think that half life was special and the retards bought it hook, line and sinker.

I recommend Icewind dale 1 and 2, also dragon age origin.

I don't know why the other guy's telling you to skip IWD. It has a much better early game than BG1 - There's enough exp in the prologue to level up once or twice without any real combat, and the first proper dungeon is around the level 4-7 range depending on class. After that it's midgame the whole way, with the final boss being around level 15 on Core

Just play it.

Stats = bigger number better
Armour = lower number better
thac0 (chance to hit) = lower number better

Fighters are consistently good. Mages need to be at least level 3 to be useful. Bards are bad.

There, that's it, that's the whole tutorial.

They're pretty good in BG1 akcshully. They scale faster than other casters so spells like Magic Missile reach their full potential quicker, and they can learn Fireball at half the experience of other casters. They only really suck if you're treating them as a martial.
