Surly this will in no way back fire on me by exiling the guy who can wipe out an entire army by himself away from the vault citizens.
I'd do it too.

I dunno, if the point was that the overseer correctly identified that The Vault Dweller had the capability of putting into motion radical change for every place they visit, taking the choice to kill the overseer is just another extension of that.

Yeah shooting Jacoren might prove the one point he has in that
>the wasteland makes you dangerous
But why wouldn't you want somebody like that on your side? Could you imagine how retarded it would be for the Arroyo elder to turn away the Chosen One after he blew up an Oil Rig to save all their asses. The Vault Dweller went above and beyond for Vault 13 just to be backstabbed.

Yeah, I recall in Fallout 1 that Vault 13 citizens were already having rebeilous impuse issues over being forced to stay in. You as the Vault Dweller can even correct this in the game. Having the overseer ban the one guy who could protect them from mutants was the straw that broke the camels back.

I remember him dying like that, but only on one of my playthroughs. Other times he just does the "fall over and then blood pool" animation. Other times you don't kill him at all and he just walks back through the door. Maybe it's got something to do with picking the Bloody Mess perk

That's exactly it, Bloody Mess makes the Vault Dweller shoot Jacoren, on top of it already be Bloody Mess, so the death animation is extra brutal.

The Overseer fired the first metaphorical shot in this case and continued the cycle of violence so its pretty fitting even if it doesn't conform to canon.

Truth is that his justifications were bullshit. He was worried that they'd make VD the new overseer, since he was an actual hero who had done far more for the community.

Also, the overseer seemed like one of those cult leader types who jealously hoard the women in their harems. He didn't want to share.

I feel like the issues Fallout 2 has that isn't just the jokes, stem from Interplay. Its why theres a random temple for new players to get through and why there's lazy BoS bunkers just to integrate them in anyway. If the F2 devs had it there way there might not be any BoS or Temple of Trials and this would be the cover.

On one hand, the Overseer was right to exile the Vault Dweller, because he would inspire the other residents of Vault 13 to risk their lives and stability of Vault 13 for knowledge and adventure of the world above.
On the other hand, the Vault Dweller was right to kill the Overseer, to send a message to the other residents, that even if they choose to shut off the insanity of the world outside, that doesn't mean that it will last forever, and it's better to do something about it now than to live in ignorance.
We saw the Vault Dweller was ultimately right. He and others founded Arroyo, while going through troubles of their own, eventually survived and formed a great society afterward.

And whats funny is that he was right because he saw Shady Sands do the same thing from Vault 15. Who in 2161 even knew they would be the entire backbone of modern California in the Fallout Universe

iirc, Even max death animation wont cause the Vault Dweller to kill Jacoren. You'd have to have Bloody Mess or Low Karma or to just hit the A key and shoot manually.

Then why did the second generation not move into an entire building like the Temple all just to save it for Trials? I dont think even Aztecs did that. Arroyo would make more sense if the Temple just wasn't there and the Elder gave you the Pipboy, flask, and clothes.
