I played it on launch and dropped it because all of my friends did. I came back years later and it wanted to charge me extra for all of the story content that released when I wasn't playing so I permanently uninstalled it. Game's not interesting enough to deal with that shit.

If they had called it anything but '2' I would have played it heavily.

it has a couple hundred thousand concurrents. It provides a niche for people who want the world vs world pvp, and or open world horizontal gameplay. Also, this game has better mounts than the other mmos. It's cool that certain mounts are getting focused on each expansion with a new movement mechanic.

Lost me by turning the game into a troonship soap opera from LS2 onwards, destroying sPvP and neglecting W3 to the point that it turned into a karmatrain blobfest. I don't even want to know how ridden with MTX it is now, much less how much PvE garbage with dreadful writing they've added since.
I've logged in twice in the past decade for an hour, played sPvP (skipped W3, knowing that it'd be deserted or said karmatrain blobgest) and destroyed people with my base game mesmer, so I guess the population is now made up of underage faggots and performative gaymers who play it to dress up pixels.
