Kaizen: A Factory Story
How's your toilet production going?

I've been eyeing it. Is it as good as when the devs were working for Zachtronics? I have high hopes, I just want to be sure

It's good but probably one of their easiest games. You will need optimization autism to challenge yourself.

Real disappointed in Zach's lack of autism here.

I thought of picking it up but Notch gave it a thumbs down. It's over. It looks more simple the opus magnum

I see. Do you think they'll do postgame content with harder puzzles? Is there a custom puzzle creator where the devs might pull in the most interesting ones?

I've spent like two hours trying to beat the golf one and still haven't managed it yet. No clue if there's a strategy I'm not seeing or if it's just pure ball-busting luck.

It's a Zachtronics game (in all but name), they're what are called engineering games. Either you create a machine that builds things or you write code that performs certain tasks; in either case, you're given an input and have to make something that creates a specific output.
Haven't gotten the chance to play Kaizen yet but it's similar in concept to other games like Opus Magnum: the player has the parts spawn in a certain place, then has machines bond, unbond, move etc. the parts until they get the configuration, and then the machines move the completed output to a destination where it's moved off. It's done in a way that the process can loop endlessly, and you get a cool .gif from it
Anonymous No.715607357 [Report]
>>715607142
I think the continuous output feels nicer in opus compared to kaizen which is just singular units

Yeah and the game feels pretty short right now. zack promised to dripfeed more puzzles weekly in the launch announcement though

I feel like I just kinda gave up halfway through this level and just tried to make it work.

There's is some strategy. Whenever possible you should prioritize leaving runs/clusters of sequential cards, and also try to ensure you have a good distribution of numbers available to use, so that when the jackpot is open you can use them to bridge the value of your current ball to one of the cards in the jackpot area and avoid losing a turn.
The game will also always give you a ball that's +-1 from a visible card in the playfield, you can use this to rig the rng in your favor. It also means that if you get to a point where you only have uncovered red cards left, it's impossible to lose.
>>715604276
That's beautiful. Shame it wastes so much area tho.

I played the demo and got butthurt over no skip cutscene button even though I enjoyed the puzzles.
Does the full game allow you to skip the cutscenes and the sort-of-but-not-really rhythm game segment in the beginning? The answer will determine if I play the full game or not.
Anonymous No.715607773 [Report]

Here is my first solution.
Anonymous No.715607786 [Report]
>>715607619
The only cutscenes are at the very beginning and very end of the game, but neither are skippable
The rhythm segment only comes up once and all dialogue segments can be clicked through

nope. this minigame actually happens more often and it gets harder with fail states. If the first occurence in the demo is too much to handle, just ignore the game.

That's not exactly true, but the "romance" is a really minor thing. There's also nothing about her being a tranny.
The whole story is kind of weird, I was expecting more from it but I just wonder why they bothered with the story at all.
