We're basically in the area of diminishing returns and less immediately noticeable upgrades, while the actually crucial improvements such as texture compression or RT are still in an awkward growing pains phase. A 2015 game will look way better than a 2005 game while needing a lot more power, but a 2025 game will only look slightly better than the 2015 game while still demanding a lot more power.
By the way don't listen to the cretins who tell you that graphics have not changed at all in the last 10 years or so. While it is true that progress has become too slow, there still is progress which cannot to be noticed by people still living in the past who think MSAA is still a thing because their GTX1050ti creates an artificial limit of what they consider worthwhile games.
