reminder that games are fine, you are living in the moment and you can enjoy things given to you in this moment, it's ok if you can't afford a playstation 5, modern pc or a switch 2, just don't shit up the forums and discussions with your poor faggot takes
you can keep playing your ps2 roms but unless you were actually born and lived through that era yourself you will never understand the context that actually made some of those games cult classics, you just had to be there
so if you choose to avoid experiencing things that are given to you in your generation when you have disposable income then you are an idiot

you are latching on things that you either didn't experience because you weren't there at that time or you are chasing that childhood high that you will never get ever again
there's nothing wrong with playing an old game, just don't pretend that you can get the full context, all the controversies surrounding it and how the public opinion about it changed throughout the years
meanwhile you can actually experience things that are available to you right now in the cultural zeitgeist, one day you might be able to tell those stories to someone just like millennials/boomers are doing on youtube, some channels are literally time-capsules from the past, not some retarded contrarian takes from a literally who

I have a 4080 super, there's nothing "modern" that's good besides an indie game.

A switch 2 only has ONE game at the moment.

You're talking schizo babble. Shut up. Nobody cares about modern games. Name them. Games are bigger than ever and people are still talking about old games for a reason. If you have enough money to emulate or play old games then you already won.

I'm so sad missing out on games directed at the modern audience.

What do they mean by "older titles"? Last year's titles? Things not released this month? 5 years old?
I imagine most PC players are somewhat similar to me, in that they've evolved beyond fomo. I don't buy a game at full price. Ever. The game will still be available in 6 months to a year, and it will have a bunch of patches and be cheaper.

But also the inflated numbers are entirely from China. Like 60% of Steam accounts are from China now. So I'm not surprised they're playing older stuff. They have 3 decades of games to catch up on.

Most modern game I'm playing lately is Stellar Blade.
Most of the little indie games I have been playing came out a year ago at the earliest.
I just browse steam for what seems like it will be fun and interesting.
If I liked a game from a developer I will see what else they have produced and see if those will also be fun.
I've been playing games on consoles and PC collectively for about 30+ years.

Getting a game brand new just isn't very exciting anymore...mainly because new games are generally released unfinished and broken.
And who gives a shit about playing new live service games? It's all the same shit.

And actually that's the biggest problem...a lot of games are just the same shit especially in the AAA space. I am actively looking for gimmicks to these things now. Some sort of novelty.
