The thing is, Kirsten Dunst's MJ isn't a good character; in fact, she was the worst aspect of the old Spider-Man films. People getting mad at Zendaya's character is weird because the MCU Spider-Man movies are just flat-out fucking bad films, and most of what makes those movies bad isn't because of Zendaya or her character. I think the reason people hate Zendaya is because they notice her in a lot of movies. Once a certain collection of people start to notice a common trend, they start to get mad even if that trend is harmless and objectively fine.

That's my biggest problem with her. I don't think she's horrendously ugly like that goblin playing Ellie in The Last of Us, but she keeps getting cast as characters that are supposed to be drop dead gorgeous and she's not that hot.
