Eh, it was fine, the gameplay does a good job to retranscribe the classic RE experience of being stuck with a bunch of zombies in a corridor. About the only thing it failed at was Mr. X. It's the only remake from the recent remake culture I don't consider pointless. Although I don't like how it seems to have replaced the original, you can't search or discuss RE2 without the remake popping up and overshadowing the og game.

I stopped playing once the blue guy in the trenchcoat shows up and starts the chase. No ammo, no indication of where to go, kept getting corner raped by the big guy. Not a good game

Everything prior to RE4 is shit. I played those games on release and the were trash. Remake of 2 is awesome.

It's fine. Purists don't know what they want. They'll mod RE1 to remove the door loading cutscenes, they'll mod Silent Hill to be over the shoulder camera. You can argue the B scenarios barely change but so what? most people aren't going to replay games so what's the point of allocating resources into something people will skip like all the other Nier endings after A.
