Should I try this game again? I'd download it, but it's about 100 GB and I don't want to go through all the hassle of installing and uninstalling it if I don't like it.

yes it's free just download and try it out, you literally have hundreds of hours of content if you enjoy it

if you do get back into it don’t feel pressured to catch up to Nod-Krai which will come out very soon. it’ll take you at least a couple hundred hours to go through all the major archon quests on top of the world quests which help you unravel the world.

That's completely valid. As I said, I agree with you. These games are inherently predatory and shallow. I just feel guilty because I see people playing the horse girl game and I think to myself "This doesn't even look like a real game. I just can't stomach the idea of playing an online-only game that could EoS at any time and take all my progress with it. I'd rather wait however many years until they're done with it and hope that the server binaries of the final version leak, SKG forces them to have an end of life plan, or they release a single player version.

It's a great game, the thing that turns people off are that there is a LOT of dialogue you can't skip outright and if you are completely autistic about collecting characters you might hate it unless you were going to whale. And even then you might hate it because you have to wait for them to come back.

If you aren't autistic and don't mind shit tons of dialogue there's an amazing game here.

Not necessarily, there's probably no way that would be retroactive and Mihoyo could just pull out of that region too.
I do hope they do that though, it's insane how high quality this one in particular is. To just delete it would be a crime.

That said, you should just play it because you're just missing out. Genshin is way too good to be the way you are. I feel like that for most live service games but I play this one.

There's not many more characters I'm interested outside Arle, but I might change my mind on characters after Pyro Archon if I like their gameplay, I'm out of the loop on future characters as well. I think I only really have dupes left unless I decide to roll for weapons which I hear is worse than dupes.

If you only want the huge scale worldbuilding pieces you only need to read Before Sun and Moon, Finale of the Deep Galleries and maybe some notes from the Narz questline about Hyperborea. Everything else is piecing together ancient civilizations that were destroyed in manic quest for gnosis or defying fate, tracking specific characters in the cataclysm, in universe folklore, or why you shouldn't stick your dick in a djinn.

I wonder if the genshin devs will ever fold. Adding QOL is something gacha devs only do when sales/interest dries up, it's why Genshin has been getting a lot more this past year or so.
