The Choir are precisely the faction that are against that. That's why Yurie fights you in Byrgenwerth, she wants to stop you from killing Rom 'cause she knows that'll reveal the Paleblood Moon and break free the shackles of the Mensis Ritual

Aren't the Great Ones just really...aloof? I mean maybe thats the wrong word to use but very little of what they do seems evil or cruel. Ebrietas is just mourning alone and was civil with the Healing Church. Theres tons of Amygdala around Yharnam who teleport people to places. And the only reason they seek a new child is because they lost their original. Kos herself is also a washed up carcass who died to unknown means. Oedon is the only one who seems completely foreign since hes omnipresent and Queen yharnam is thankful for finally freeing her and Mergo.

I think all the bad shit that they do to everyone is from them not understanding how humans work. Like trapping you in an eternal nightmare, they probably think they are helping you by giving you eternal life or something. I never took it as malicious, just a lack of understanding. Except for Kos, Kos was pissed at that fishing village.

But they follow Willem's teachings over Laurence's. They want to ascend, but they'd rather be careful with it over fucking around mindlessly with old blood and dreams. You've got the Blindfold Cap description and regretful notes like:

Yeah stuff like that. They don't understand people operate on a smaller plane or don't like being bombarded with an eldritch truth 24/7 in the form of frenzy. And Kos wasn't angry at the village she hated the hunters who came to the village and dissected her corpse and performed experiments on the orphan. Which is why the hunters are the ones who become blood drunk and condemned to exist there for all eternity.

I did it and have enjoyed it stupendously.
It was a while ago but if I remember right I was playing it at 60hz with 1080p.
I have a 3080ti, and a Ryzen 7 7800X.
The best part is you can play with some mods (enhanced edition) to do some fun runs like starting the game with the kos parasite and the cauliflower head rune.
Great time, love this stupid game.

All of the Great Ones sans Amygdala and Kos are trying to help, but they just flat-out do not understand humanity. And the Amygdala can be argued to also be "helping" by teleporting you around but don't understand their method for doing so is horrific and Kos genuinely hated what was done to the people under her care.

I thought Ebrietas was found in the ruins under Yharnam, isnt she the source of the old blood? or is that just headcanon. I havent played BB in a few years.
If shes not the source then where's the healing church getting all the old blood from?

They got the Old Blood from the Chalice Dungeons under Byrgenwerth, when they found the Pthumerians there. It's what caused the schism between Laurence and Willem, and led the former to founding the Church. In the final game, the description for the Great Isz Chalice states that the Choir (which was created after the Church started using blood throughout Yharnam) were the first ones to interact with Ebrietas.
But yes, during most of the game's development Ebrietas' arena as well as the cave underneath Iosefka's clinic with the giants were both part of Byrgenwerth, and the Cleric Beast used to jump down from the Cathedral's second floor to fight you next to the altar (Amelia was in Hemwick).
