If MMOs want people to group up for content then they should make grouping up as convenient as solo play.
Standing around looking for a group is not fun.
Being arbitrarily barred from finishing something no matter how good your skills are as a solo player is not fun.

yes, actually talking to people and having to actually travel through the world to get to dungeon locations, that's an MMORPG
sadly adhd zoomers turned the genre into instant gratification queueslop

An MMO is about a large world with many fellow adventurers in it. If there were zero group-based content it would still be an MMO.

Talking to players in MMOs is always dogshit because it's full of turboautists and drama queens. I can tell you don't actually play MMOs and instead bitch about the good old days online, because if you did play them you'd know the chats are either totally dead or pure flaming retardation.

Yes lets remove the social aspect and reduce other players to glorified bots one can summon at their leisure.

What social aspect? That's all people do now except it's extremely inconvenient.
You group defenders act like MMOs are some fucking high school musical-esque movie where there just always happens to be a group of friends everywhere and they're always chatting and helpful. It's a load of bullshit.

In reality grouping up requires standing around for up to an hour, everyone sits in the group lobby and maybe says hello if that, you have to read the guide on your 2nd monitor because nobody will explain how things are done, and then when its done everyone says ty and leaves to go back to solo play.

queues are fine as long as classes aren't homogenized slop and the world is alive with meaningful content desu
the real problem with modern mmos is having dungeons/raids be hallway simulators

if content is so easy that you can just matchmake the party then why require a party at all?

Dofus doesn't have a group finder, it does however have a recruitment chat (with like a 300 second cooldown, all other global chats have their own 300s cooldown)

Everyone would rather there be a group finder.
There's too many activities in an MMO to simply say "LFG" and pray 3-7 other people are doing the same activity as you at the same moment. A group finder would be much better if you could tick off say a dozen activities you're interested in and see how many other people are also interested and online in doing them.

Dofus' sister-games DO have group finders which is wild.

Dungeons and raids are hallways because they started to understand that those things are done for the "spectacle" and actual boss-fight aspect and nobody gives a flying fuck about solving a dungeon, you WILL end up with that one WoW dungeon (I think Blackrock Spire?) where everybody just walks across the lava because it's faster and nobody cares about the loot before reaching that part of the dungeon the intended way

Complex dungeons are not compatible with something you could theoretically be doing once a day or more

Furthermore the solo game content needs to actually teach you how to use your class. By the time you get to endgame raids you should be confident that any random you group up with actually knows how to tank, heal, etc.
Every other genre understands the point of a difficulty curve gradually making the player better but for some reason MMOs don't.

The problem here is dungeons being something you repeat over and over. Narratively what makes dungeons with puzzles work in tabletop games and single player RPGs is that you do them once. Repeating dungeons happens because of the subscription model of MMOs, not because it works well.
