Why didn't the Maesters just tell the world that when you die you can still live? They had the farplane which is basically like a heaven realm, you become a fiend (pretty cool too) OR you can literally just be an immortal ghost version of yourself.

To be fair, X-2 kind of fucks up several FFX moments by treating Pyreflies like ghosts. In X it's fairly consistent that only the Unsent are real specters of the dead. And even then the Unsent are just people.

But then you get into X-2 and suddenly the Unsent are able to possess you. And memories are able to act on their own. And Fayth are still able up Dream from the Farplane. Which defeats the purpose of sending them there in the first place.
