Why did you list 3 cool things and then call it bad?

Fuck, the more I think about SH3 being a rushjob of a game, the angrier I get. We missed out on so much, and the final boss is clearly completely unfinished. I feel Sh3 should have just went all-in on either two scenarios:

1. A teenage runaway with an original story who is running around South Vale, re-using Sh2's map but with new areas and locations.

2. A SH1 sequel set in the north Silent Hill resort area.

We got some ugly mish-mash of both.

2 undersold, so Konami in its infinite wisdom decided to make 3 and 4 at the same time so they'd release yearly rather than give 3 a full dev cycle. The entire game was made in 18 months, and it's obvious they were running out of budget and it's remarkable the game is as coherent as it is. Even in the final product, Heather ends up teleporting around the map towards the end, obviously showing signs of cut content. Oh yeah, the nightmare amusement park leads to the Church. Totally makes sense.

After 3-4 also undersold expectations (they wanted RE numbers) they started outsourcing to idiots who made shittier games that retreated the past ones.

The story of the SH series was told mostly by series fans in the 00s, and in their narratitive: the supremely successful series was canned for no reason and the team disbanded then outsourced by Mean old Konami.

They neglect to include declining sales data in that equation.
