No? The "shooting" part is boring because you just run circles around the dumbest enemies and barely have to aim (arguably would be even worse if you had to aim because shooters with controller are wack), thus the upgrades aren't very rewarding either

A funny thing about this game is how unfunny it is. It tries so hard to be like Psychonaut or Marvel flicks and splice the boring gameplay with humor but it never lands

Yeah exactly, the 2016 game had that weird plastic sheen across every scene, like you're watching lifeless dolls recite committee-approved banter. OG cutscenes at least had energy-even in cheesy moments. Even Skid's dumb surfer dude antics felt like a character, not just a collection of algorithm-optimized voice lines. It's like they lost all understanding of how timing and delivery actually sell comedy.

It's fun and many started with it and then experienced arguably better series, so it was easier for them to keep enjoying those PS2 series than those who were going into them expecting something more challenging. First impressions have a powerful effect. They can be overcome but in the end it's just a video-game so if someone already had the context of Mario or Crash and didn't like newer platforming series, oh well, plenty of other games.

I just used to fuck with the game on PS2 where you had your space ship.
After finishing the game and getting some super cool armor I'd just keep playing some kind of PvP mode by myself just walking around for hours if I remember right.
And also keep trying to get some kind of gold statue in a swamp level that I couldn't figure out how to reach.
