there's still a difference between content creators and pro players gathering around a game that they like and doing an event, and then just a company walking up and saying "yeah uhhh how about you guys do what you did for that game, but instead for this slop that I just released, and I pay you money" granted I understand, tournaments and events are generally a minus, it's to create goodwill with the fans but usually the organisers lose money on them, so it's an attractive offer to get your costs covered and even get paid, but still it just feels soulless
