I feel like people think 12 year olds are more retarded than they are. I was playing Halo 3 at MLG rank 50 at that age against pro players. You have like 10 hours a day after school where you can just spam play games + 16 hours on a weekend, ofc you're gonna be cracked at games.

My theory is that 12 is seen by some people as the peak of childhood because it is the highest bar of being considered a 'child' and people are afraid of looking like weirdos/pedophiles if they say a more logical age like in the ballpark of 5-8. It always puzzled me why people bring up age 12 as if it isn't riddled with puberty.
I always thought a more logical peak childhood age was 6/7. Old enough to be more aware but young enough to still have a sense of magic that you don't have when you hit your preteens. And a little further than 5.
