Stick just started drifting. Do I just buy a new one and hope it doesnt fail before ps6 or shell out double to triple the price for a third party hall effect. Are there even any decent third party ones?

You open it up douse the stick module in contact cleaner while wiggling it around, agressiively dry it off with some canned air, close the controller and enjoy your probably fixed stickdrift.

Buy an Xbox controller
It's the one thing they've been consistently best at

They have garbage build quality nowadays, I went through 3 or 4 of them in 2-3 years. It's a joke compared to the near indestructible 360 one I had for fuck knows how long.

New one. I had no idea how bad it was with mine because i had just gotten used to holding the right stick slightly off-centre to counteract the drift, then i got a new one which has so far lasted twice as long but i've been ultra paranoid and kept it in as best condition as i could

If you are on PC and if you want a synthetical layout, wait for the 8bitdo Pro 3 to drop next month. It has TMR sticks.
If you are on PS5, your third party options are non-existent without an adapter.
You can go the DIY route and look up a guide online that shows you how to replace the faulty parts and fix the stick drift. Buying replacement parts would be much cheaper than buying a new controller.
