>if their world has magic how can they be disabled?
our world has prosthetic, so how come there's still amputees without them?
many reasons- money issues, lack of access to such tech, religious reasons, a matter of personal desire, some amputees are so used to missing a limb they'd feel uncomfortable with it present, some disabilities resulted in damage that a prosthetic can't attack to, etc etc etc-

to think "this world has X so why isn't EVERYONE using X" is literal retard low IQ thinking that assumes an entire reality must operate on one system overall, it's no different than those morons who write alien stories where the entire alien planet has one language, one culture and one mindset across the whole thing despite supposedly having individuality and different cultures that evolved separately yet are no different from one another in anything more than visual aesthetics
"everyone must want their disability fixed with magic" is as stupid as "this fantasy world must look exactly like my modern metropolitan inner city but with elves", same level or stupid egocentric unimaginative comfort-for-the-sake-of-comfort fiction with no interest or variance

thanks for reading my blogpost i don't care about your input about my opinions they are objectively right

>shitty prosthetics that cost the same as a car and require weekly maintenance are the same thing as healing magic, or basic levitation that literally everyone is capable of
It is especially bad when the person on a wheelchair is a very powerful mage. WoW did this recently.

Look I am not a chud. I like accessibility and representation. I just think that the point of accessibility is to give people their quality of life back in the most efficient way possible. And when you start ignoring the most efficient solution just to virtue signal about wheelchairs, you start missing the point.

It also goes against the point of magic and fictional words which is that big problems for us are trivial for them. It's escapism. I want to enjoy seeing limbless people easily regaining them through magic. I don't want to see all our big problems ALSO being big problems for them because that is not escapism.

All aspects of life can be made cool in a piece of media
A wheelchair can be an epic battle tank, a limbless character can tell a story about their dark past, etc
The issue isn't these traits, it's how they're treated
It's only a problem when the disability is no different than "coffee shop AU in fantasy world" aka the wheelchair is like a regular modern wheelchair and that's it
The problem isn't disability in fiction, it's a lack of imagination
A good writer can make anything cool and a bad writer can make anything lame

Also hedgehogs are just evolved rats

1. not everyone is capable of magic in every piece of fiction though, in most of them it's, in canon, a skill that takes ages to learn
yes your chara learns it quick but that's commonly for bullshit gameplay reasons
2. it's not meant to be a literal translation of prosthetic = magic, it's just giving an example of how people have many reasons not to want something, so why would it be different in a fictional world?

The "literally everyone can use any level of magic" argument breaks every conceivable fantasy world because then nobody would have to toil in the fields, herd animals, bake bread, ask anyone to fetch anything and it would be impossible to have any kind of system or structure in place that can account for literally every tom dick and cunny being a magical bastard

why not? an NPC in a wheelchair could tell a story, a fallen warrior, or maybe a dwarf king who keeps himself on the battlefield while refusing magical treatment because he's adamantly against magic for some personal reason in a cool gnome engineered battle chair, or a magical elf floating on a chair? again it's all about rule of cool- realism doesn't matter as long as you can make it work

>First example will never happen in fantasy world because there wonโ€™t be deaf person for 30 years, the same with missing limb
shortsighted and retarded thinking, there can be many reasons why a person doesn't seek out help for years, maybe they're born into a family that doesn't believe in magic, maybe they didn't have a mage nearby and learned to deal with it, maybe they think the disability is a challenge from their gods, and there's many more reasons, too

you seem to think in every fantasy story there's just a mage nearby every 2 steps who knows the magic un-disability-fy spell (every mage is the same level btw there's literally no difference between a spell that can light a match and a spell that can raise an ancient god, no unique magic preference or specialization either, so every mage knows all the same types of magic at the same capability with no downsides or potential for the magic to go wrong and injure the person further) and will instantly want their disability removed because they're a member of a hivemind that thinks the exact same way and sees absolutely no cultural or religious value in not using magic nor has beliefs about not fixing certain disorders

The real problem with HP - and with video games moreso - is that they can't decide on what magic is
it's all at once hard to master, easy to learn, very powerful but not more powerful than swords and peasants with bows, except when it is. things that'd be so powerful they'd change human society forever - teleportation, conjuring items from nothing, giving items sentience - are considered minor or even goofy compared to the ultimate form of magic: large fireball, or perhaps purple-and-black death spell

Because people don't die of deafness? I mean sure they might die of a disease that causes deafness among other things, or from the results of deafness like being attacked from behind and not hearing it, but they don't die DIRECTLY from deafness
Unlike the plague, which just straight up kills people
The plague didn't end because there was a cure, it ended mainly cause people who had it just died, it's also a virus that only really had one source
Unlike deafness that is a syndrome that has many sources from genetic factors to illness to physical damage and so on, that's like saying you can end "not-having-leg-ness" by killing all people without legs, it's not a viral disease dude, someone's leg just got eaten

what if they don't believe magic is right
what if they don't want it fixed
you keep ignoring the personal choice variant because that's the one that angers you the most since it's the most random variable, people are different and the reasons we do things are as diverse as we are, there will ALWAYS be a reason, no matter how personal or esoteric, why someone wouldn't wanna do something that seems conventional

you're on fucking 4chan, you should know not every person is a normalfag

the reason you're having trouble talking with the other anon is that you're viewing the real world like it's a video game
deaf people do not have a status effect that says "Deaf" that magic can dispel. Sometimes it's a part that's missing, or it grew wrong, or it's damaged, or it's a problem with the brain or nerve system.
It's easy to picture how a hypothetical magic system could target something that's causing a problem, like a disease or virus or w/e, but it's much less clear how magic solves a "problem" that in truth is caused by a dozen different things.

It doesn't matter what justification and logic you come up with to stick your shit in the setting, we know the real reason why you stuck it in, and you can't ask us to just pretend we don't

Rule of cool always wins
If your character with a disability is cool and uses their disability to do something cool or is portrayed in a cool way, then idc about logic and realism

honestly it doesn't even need to be superpowers, the goat-legged chair from Witch Hat Atelier is on every level except literally a wheelchair, but anyone complaining about it is retarded because it's a cool enchanted chair, unlike the floating magical wheelchair in World of Warcraft which is retarded because we can clearly see it floating so why is it not just a cool hoverchair like Professor X tends to have in X-Men or a floating throne like the frogs use in Warhammer Fantasy?

Oh so THAT'S why everyone is complaining about WOW lol
I didn't know WOW had a magical wheelchair in it but now it makes sense, I guess the average /v/ user is too retarded to comprehend that everyone else isn't thinking about whatever they're thinking of at any given moment
