Yea sure, he's adding BE variants for the chibi sprites and all, and I've heard he plans to do... something, who knows what, to fix the BE/ranking up pacing. The former will likely help some but I'm not holding my breath for the later, big balance changes rarely work well for anyone involved, wether the players or the dev's own sanity

The easy way would be to make it a balancing act between High DEF but Low SPD/ATK.
You could also combine the stat boost version with tit size as a resource. Bigger is better mechanically And generally but if you want X secret or Y shop item you're going to have to shrink them. Of course, the shopkeeper would have the biggest boobs imaginable under such a system.

In my opinion the problem with BE is that ot loses some of the appeal once you grow a girl, start getting diminishing returns, hit the size limit, or get a size that should logically slow the girl down or just immobilize her.
I think the actual way to go about it is to implement some necessity to shrink girls. Think boobs = mana, the more spells your witch uses the less boobage she's left with, and you have to refill her with a potion or your cum. Or using their milk(draining size) for specific purposes like currency, to open doors, giving it away to npcs to have them grow, things like that.
You could also consider having a platformer with boob control. BE an ally to keep a pressure plate pressed, shrink her to give her a high jump, BE an enemy a ton to disable her aggro, do so in a specific spot and then bounce on her tits to reach a platform, or stack all enemies and your followers to form a tower so you can reach a secret. Actively juggling sizes like that might be fun.

Did you ever play a flash game called magic shop? Something like that.

Mix with various herbs or other materials, use on your assistant, see her turn into a different race complete with varying boob sizes, get more milk, sell it, purchase new materials.

Sidescroller shooter where a space jannie foxgirl gets sent to clean up a station infested with horny plant tentacle monsters.
If you get grappled by a monster, you enter a little minigame where you dodge around and try to hit a tentacle icon moving that's around to free yourself and possibly damage/kill the monster, and you're on a timer as being in this state drains your stamina. You get caught by the plant icon or run out of stamina, and the grapple moves on to the sex animation, which drains even more stamina, faster til you click the cum button. Fairly bog standard stuff so far, right?
Thing is, you only lose a life if your stamina is low when the MC and the monster cum, so you can just play it up as a nympho and fast track into the sex, click the cum button early, and get away scott-free at the cost of whatever stamina was lost along the way. Oh by the way, jumping drains some stamina too.

Now, surprisingly this game is quite vanilla, other than the tentacles and furry characters: Consentacles, annoyed face got removed from early versions because patreon, not the slightest hint of minor cumflation even after a million loads, and no BE even though there's a dedicated titty grabber monster (it's called as much in the game files).
So I though about learning how to mod cumflation and BE in. And boy, I had plans: internal meters tracking how much cum you're holding in translating into different visual stages of inflation, draining on their own over time, faster the bigger you are, with both a growing stamina penalty and maybe (just maybe) even an alternative "immobilized" lose scenario. That way trying to cheese the game and nympho your way through turns confrontation instead into a choice of using up precious bullets, risking going for grapple minigame "melee", or taking in a growing debuff of fucking your way through.
That's the kinda mechanics I'd put in a game with BE.

But despite the relatively simple pixel art, I'm not an artist: Just the physics of wobbling tits or a somewhat pudgy belly on walking animations at different stages of clothing (full, bra+trouser, bra+panties, naked) already breaks me, let alone the turning around/sitting/collapsing animations. And then, every single sex animation, with all the bouncing around at different angles and keeping sizes consistent. Repeat 6-10 times for however many BE/cumflation stages you want.
Sure, it's no surprise and you know going into such a project that making that many variants is going to be a pain in the ass, but you don't fully understand it until you're right in the middle of it.
