If someone presses you and clearly knows more than you, there's no shame in admitting that you're new to it and are enjoying how much there is to learn.
Not everyone is going to be an expert.
But I would generally recommend having more than just 1 hobby. Having time away from one can make it more enjoyable to switch tracks back to it, the novelty and yearning will help ward off the feeling of becoming jaded.
Obviously there are the adjacent hobby of anime/manga consumption, but I can easily recommend the more mentally stimulating activity of board gaming, doing escape rooms (literally just a puzzle game IRL), both can be social experiences too so you arent going to be interpreted as an isolated misanthrope

Since you need to book a session in advance youre gonna want to have some other people to do them with.
If you genuinely have no one youre gonna have to make the hard decision of finding adult meetups to get networking. I dont know if you and your neighbors are on good terms, let alone speaking terms. But the shared living proximity can be used as a justification to break the ice.
Biggest thing to be aware of when you do start an escape room with strangers is to be very patient: no one likes a bossy nag calling all the shots, thats a great way to make people not want to speak with you again. The rooms have enough things to do at once that you shouldn't be stepping on anyone's toes or shoving others aside. I know we are both anons so there is not a guarantee either of us are well adjusted adults, but take my word for it: its more enjoyable to fail gracefully as a group than to be right but cause friction and self segregate. Youre there to have fun, not to speedrun
There are some vidya that are based on escape rooms, so you can do those ones solo without it feeling weird.

My hobbies are literally just gaming and programming, so I was honest and told them that I spend most of my free time refining my skills as a software developer, either working on small projects or studying new metholdologies/tech stacks.
