The way Victoria 3 handles the American Civil War is sociaIist nonsense.

It requires a pro slavery movement to be revolting when in actuality the war was about states’ rights.

“MUH SLAVERY” is a modern day sociaIist narrative used to discredit the Confederacy and you see the pro pediphile Democrats bring it up whenever possible.

Paradox is a Swedish company. They do not need to be part of culture war bullshit.

What don't you retards understand that the entire southern economy and society was built around slavery and that naturally there would be many things they'd have to change by outlawing it. This of course would be an infrignement on their rights. If all of congress and the states could come together and outlaw slavery then their rights wouldn't have been infringed upon, but that's not how it went down

You even see this exact argument in the causes of secession. Most of them are primarily bitching about how the federal government decided to outlaw slavery without listening to their arguments or concerns.

war doesn't happen without the moral incitement of slavery. any northern ambition that existed in government outside of slavery would have ultimately been split and obstructed. slavery was the only thing that could unite the north enough to be a threat to the south.

Civilized nations were moving past slavery. It wasn't efficient, and the South's cotton was being supplanted by Egyptian cotton. The industrialization of the North drew more immigrants because there was more work available which in turn fueled it's growing wealth. The reliance on slave-driven agriculture would have seen the South's economy falter with or without war.

The Confederacy fought to keep their slaves. If they could have kept them and still be part of the Union they wouln't have seceded. The Union on the other hand wasn't fighting for muh abolition either, but just for its teritories.

The Southern economy would've crashed out hard with or without slavery. The Industrial Revolution killed all need for agrarian-based economics.
However, at the same time, imagine without hindsight, someone came up to you and told you they were going to steal your entire livelihood? How would that make you feel?
The reason why the war happened was wrong and fruitless, but I understand the intent.

Reading this, Georgia spends most of the time just whining about Northerners, how they get special benefits and how they ignore the laws as they're written to push forth their own agendas. Here's them complaining about the north getting subsidies kek
They spend more time time complaining about northerners than they do talking about slavery. It's honestly kinda funny cause it reads exactly like chuds today complaining about California or New York having sanctuary cities

Anyway point is that for at least what I've read so far from what you've sent, in Georgia's case their issues was primarily states rights and that decisions were being made without being decided by Congress or the Courts.

Ok, but that doesn't answer my question on what rights were being taken away, as at the time of the start of the war slavery in the south was not at risk.

Which did not happen until after succession, and in fact there was currently no move in congress or by the president at the time of succession to outlaw slavery in the south.

It's funnier when you realize that a lot also complained they couldn't strong arm northern states into doing their bidding with the fugitive slave act. Because the south was fully on board with taking northern states rights away then cried at the possibility that the north might do so to them.

Going off of what they complain about in their cause of seccesion documents, most of them probably would have been more fine with it if the government promised to reimburse them or assist the southern economy in some way. Agrarian society would have always been on the way out, but it is kind of rich of the government to put tons of investment into building up the industry in the north while basically telling the South to get bent and change their entire economic society overnight.

The key point though is the government wasn't actually doing this. It was limiting new states from becoming slave states but had no plans to outright upend the southern economy for exactly that reason. The reason they did it after the war was very much targeted punishment, ironically had the south not succeeded they'd most likely would have gotten the federal support to further modernize as the institution fell out of economic viability but instead the south has been cursed to forever be othered by the greater US both culturally abd economically.

The democrat party started in the Confederacy. Yes, they were actually pro-slavery, well pro free labor that gave them an unfair economical advantage over the other states that didn't have slavery. Furthermore, the Republicans are the ones that actually fought against "slavery" (the unfair economic advantage of having free labor basically, not the morally reprehensible act of slavery).

/pol/nigger off topic thread but it lets me talk about Victoria 3's ACW.
Because they wanted to show off their "dynamic mechanics", instead of hardcoding it with events and triggers, they coded it so any revolt of the Landowner class in the US after slavery is banned is automatically named the Confederacy.

This causes a lot of problems, first of all, not all landowners in the US were Southern planters. Plenty of them in the Free states of the North, and this can cause bizarre scenarios where Pennsylvania or New York join the Confederacy simply because they have landowners, because the game doesn't differentiate between planters and regular gentry. Second of all it frames the secession as only instigated by the Southern landowners, when in fact plenty of the poor whites supported it because they saw slavery as the natural God given order of things, despite not affording any slaves themselves.

tldr Victoria 3 is dogshit

Only now its even more ironic because red states are wholesale subsidized by blue states. 70% of the US GDP is blue. The same year California posted net positive 80bn, Texas was net negative 70bn. The culture war is a wholesale psyop.

The slaves counted as 3/5s a person for the purpose of legislative representation and taxation, they were given citizenship after the war because they were born and raised in the US for decades, some of them having blood that went back even further than that.
