This is the vn that convinced me that S;G as a series was never good. Something about knowing that it's the same writer that made the original, and seeing all the horrible plotting and shitty variations of Kurisu but then going back and seeing echos of those flaws in the original S;G broke my love for the series.

Some things work, like Maho, the bits with Daru and Suzu, and when Kyouma comes back, also the future parts were kinda interesting to see (although it killed the tension of an imminent dystopic future by showing said future)
It mostly fails to capture what made the first one good, by making Okabe a sad fuck and basically deleting Kurisu, it had to focus too much on too many subplots which mostly didn't work out, and the payoff is literally explaining what happened in a single minute of the first game
Only play if you loved the first one

I actually really liked it. Yes some endings go nowhere but that's how it is with parallel worlds, you just see a what-if. Some were great even if retarded like the one that hints at Kurisu synchronising with Amadeus + Reading Steiner at the very end. Sad Okabe was great, it was interesting to see how the others interacted with him and how he dealt with his fuckups and !Kurisu addiction without being able to chuunilarp it away. Mayuri's friends and Kagari were whatever but they didn't pose enough of a detriment. Maho was ok but her character being 99% impostor syndrome over Kurisu got tiring to me. The mechanic of Amadeus altering the timeline whether you answer or not adds a lot once you catch on to it. Mostly I'm a sucker for works that add context to previous(?) events. It was interesting to know how the deus ex machina of the original vn message came to be (or came not to be), it's the same reason I really like Linear Bounded Phenogram as many scenes and characters from the original are given much more depth.

I bought Steins Gate VN in the summer sale and decided to play it. I liked the plot and the characters but I ended up getting the Suzuha's ending. Why the fuck this VN is forcing me to replay the whole thing with a walkthrough(so that I can get my email replies correct) to get the true ending? That shit sucks, because I clocked around 30hours when I got that ending. Non canon endings should be extras, especially when a VN is long and you have invested hours upon hours reading it

Nigger, have you tried Stein's Gate? Okabe gets so much email spam to answer to, I"ll be needing to make a new save every 5 mins or so if want to be in the clear. Im thinking the only way to get to the true ending, is by using a walkthrough.
The only big VN that I read(fata morgana) pretty much gave me the actual ending when I reached the end. It has alt endings, but they are few, and you can save scum to see them.
I have played other VNs where your choices affect the outcome like steins gate (pantsu hunter, yarudora sampaguita) but they are short, and you can go back and try again
