Dead Space 3 basically killed the franchise. Mass Effect continued on until Andromeda came along and basically killed the franchise. This is coming from a Dead Space fan who doesn't really care about Mass Effect that much, I think Mass Effect 3 is the better game. I think Dead Space 3 is far superior than Andromeda however for it actually working on release.

Except in truth the "beefy" character (James) is basically a more interesting Jacob, and you can tell the journo character to fuck off from day 1-and she later gets blown to bits, as reported in an email.

Rest of the game is fine. Expansions are good, one of them is very spooky which can be hard to hit in a setting like ME.

Why was EA so fucking horrendous around this time? They seem to have calmed down nowadays but they were absolutely horrific a decade ago and further.

Dead space should've ended after the first. The 2nd and 3rd games were just EA wanting to milk it more after. Then it bombs then EA kills it.

Because it sucked. I had fun playing it with a higher FOV, but I was also drunk and don't remember most of it. Most of the fun came from being drunk and not caring, plus having gotten the game and its DLC (which contained the actual ending of the game) in a bundle on a steep discount.

ME3 had redeeming qualities. The raw gameplay was better than 1 and 2, and the Rannoch part was peak Mass Effect. So it's not ALL bad.

On a grand scale of sheer disappointment, ME3. The problem is that ME3 is still a good, well made game that people sometimes look back fondly on after all is said and done.

Dead Space 3 put a franchise in the ground with horrible decisions; awful new weapons and ammo system, awful co-op sections that took development away from making the rest of the game better, and an awful finale which - despite having cool ideas - ultimately led to a awful cliffhanger.
And it killed an excellent series.

In the case of Dead Space 3, the one redeeming factor is that I can literally just pretend that it doesn't exist and the gameplay and story of DS 1&2 holds up and is actually pretty fucking cool. So yeah I just forget it even exists.
Now with Mass Effect, I can't pretend that 3 doesn't exist, because 2 ends on a huge cliffhanger with the Reapers on their way from dark space. Then ME3 fucked up the story, disregarded player choices, huge plotholes everywhere... I don't know man. People seem to have forgotten how little sense ME3's story made from the get-go.

So even though DS3 is a piece of shit "le AAAA" game with 0 redeeming qualities but I still hate ME3 more because you can't just stop at ME2

A lot can be said about ME3 and by extension 2 in regards to what they did to the games, but i can still enjoy the games up until the end of Rannoch in 3
Dead Space 3 meanwhile threw the "tension" out the window and replaced it with just action, i was so bored i didn't even finish it and feel no desire to come back to it, nodes being replaced by materialss you could either buy or grind didn't help matters since finding a node was always an energizing jolt
