Pop Quiz: Why does Ratchet 1 have better combat than it's sequels?
>>715735142 (OP)Because uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck you
>>715735142 (OP)No strafing, this is what OP is baiting for
>>7157361244 has the best strafe combat, but it's still inferior to 1's because it lacks the need to think about weapon choice.
>>715736124>4It's called Deadlocked pleb
>>715736514>it lacks the need to think about weapon choice. It has the need on the harder difficulties. There's also a lot of choice in terms of which weapon mods to use for each weapon.
>>715735142 (OP)is it possible to play that game on PC?
>>715737108Ratchet 1 managed to do it without the need for difficulty options, so it still wins out.

>>715735142 (OP)It doesn't. Deadlocked has the best combat.
>>715737126Try bomb gloving the final boss
>>715737192No, it is completely impossible to play these games on a PC using an emulator such as PCSX2. Don't look into it any further. Best to just go to sleep.
>>715737393You probably suck a lot of dicks, don't ya?
>>715737357>>715737283I've heard that emulators can get pretty choppy or laggy though even with good hardware
>>715737215The options aren't a need, they're a feature that promotes replay-ability. Also Ratchet one does not accomplish what weapon mods bring.
It doesn't. Lack of strife is not a problem but the flying commandos limiting what you can use is.
And yes, you can beat them them using the bomb glove, it is slow and annoying.
Ratchet 1 is a platformer with guns, that is its strength.
>>715737357fuck off moron I'm going to deadlift your girlfriend, fuck her in front of you then drive your head into the ground with a slam like a whack-a-mole

>>715737465That happens on real hardware. The games dip below 60 when there's tons of shit going on. You can mitigate it via pic related.
>>715737576will I be fine with a 7800x3d and a rtx 5070 ti?
>>715737576Also I'm pretty sure the PS3 versions actually run better on RPCS3 than the PS2 versions do on PCSX2. Your mileage may vary.
>>715737654I played through all of them on a 7700x 4070ti so yes. Also see
>>715737664 since I've played through both versions. Kinda hard to tell which one I prefer (except Deadlocked obviously)
>>715737664>PS3YUCK. That shit doesn’t even play the fucking final boss music in 1
>>715737664ps3 versions are "special". And rpcs3 is pure garbage since elad took over.
Stick to the ps2 versions.
>>715737549>but the flying commandos limiting what you can use is.Oh no, you have to actually think about what weapon to use. The horror.
Ratchet 1 combat sucks. If you want platformers with guns just fuckin play Jak 2 or 3 at that point.
>>715737793Yeah, the ports have problems, but if you're just looking for a good gameplay experience and you're willing to excuse Ratchet's giant helmet, RPCS3 works beautifully for R&C 1-3.
>>715737654no a 2025 high end PC cannot handle a 20 year old game you dumb fucking retard
>>715738007Ok dude shut your FUCKING mouth and kiss my ass
>>715738156You need to be 18 years or older to post here
>>715737853No, just use rocket and visibomb.
Or are you gonna tell me that the blaster is a great choice or the walloper?
>>715738192That's how old I was when I fucked your mom
>>715735142 (OP)Slower combat requiring a more thought out approach than run n gun, use of targeting and guided missiles, lack of strafe plus most weapons being used for trapping and ambush tactics
>>715737896I mean as someone who played the ps3 versions first, you definitely miss out on a lot by doing that
>Music tracks don’t play>Voice tracks for characters don’t play in 2/DL>boss behaviours act up like Nefarious and his weird laser/galactic rangers not working properly >Widescreen graphical glitches like ratchets wrench throwing in 2 and his teeth in 4>Cutscenes will get skipped like the jak reference one in 2, only plays the on NG+Lot of bad shit when you could emulate the OG’s, definitely death by 1000 cuts
How many furries cried when the reboot gave him boots?
>>715738225>No, just use rocket and visibomb. And you know how you came to that conclusion? You analyzed the enemy before you, considered the pros and cons of your weapons, and selected the one you felt would be best suited for the job. That's the beauty if Ratchet 1's combat. Thank you for proving my point.
>>715738294Correct. All things the sequels threw away in favor of more accessible controls.
>>715738415You kidding me? They gave him something for me to fantasize taking off. Imagine how musky they must be, spending all day jumping around doing crazy acrobatics and fighting.
>>715738430I am asking you nicely to please stop being retarded. If you want to make a R&C thread, just make one. Reading your posts is physically painful.
>>715738430Anything would work, theoretically, but if you want to kill those flying assholes, you're stuck with just the rocket and visibomb. I had fun playing R&C 1 for the first time ever a few months ago, but the last stretch of Valdin was the opposite of fun or "thoughtful". Especially since auto lock-on is finicky and you have to fumble around with the first person view, but that means getting hit, etc. The Walloper is the ultimate problem solver once you get it though. The later games do "right weapon for the right job" just fine. That includes tactics and shit.
>>715744356>The later games do "right weapon for the right job" just fine. That includes tactics and shit. No, they objectively don't. Most people play the strafe games the same way - stick with one weapon until it levels up, switch weapon, repeat. There is no need to consider weapon utility, just weapon experience.
It's funny how I got away with spamming walloper and used the devastator on anything the walloper couldn't reach. Tactical my ass
>>715737883Ratchet 1 has better shooting than Jak 2. I'm not even going to try 3 after playing that piece of shit
>>715746747I dunno, GC did a pretty decent job
>Heavy lancer as the workhorse weapon>Volcano gun for quick work of protopets/swarms (Until it levels up to meteor gun, then getting the lock on mod means it is a giant middle finger to single target heavy armour enemies)>Shield charge for Grelbin (You know why)>The rocket launcher which the name escapes me for long range single target damage>Spiderbot to scout out future areas>RYNO II for shits and gigsThe problem that I had with 1 is that early on you do experiment with weapons, but by the end of the game you got the devestator, visibomb and tesla claw which covers most situations you are going to face.
Deadlocked also has pretty good use cases for most of their weapons, but faces the same problem that by end game certain weapons just become too good to pass up like the Scorpion Flail, Mine Launcher and its' rocket launcher with the napalm mod.
>>715749703Jank, then you get to Deadlocked then super jank.
PS2 emulation is better.
The most I've ever had to think in regards to combat in Ratchet games are the last three fights in aCiT on Hardcore difficulty, those being Nefarious, Alister and Vorselon.
Nefarious has the hardest hover boot section in the game and he throws so much shit at you during his last phase that it forces you to respond with just as much aggression, purely so you can end the fight before you get overwhelmed by one of the few instances of 3d bullet hell in this series.
Alister on the other hand is much more focused on combat and has such a high health pool that you're basically forced to go through your entire arsenal just to barely bring him down.
Vorselon, being, as far as I'm aware, the only postgame superboss in the series, is as oppressive as Nefarious and as unyielding as Alister, he's arguably the hardest boss in the whole series.
These bosses, as fun as they are, highlight how poor aCiT's weapon variety is, why is the only flamethrower in the game the RYNO V and why is it not even the third best flamethrower in the series? Where are the melee weapons, even ToD has the Razor Claws. Why give me two different shotgun weapons when not only fans had already voiced their disapproval of two weapons fulfilling the same role in GC, but Insomniac listened to that feedback in UYA by replacing the Meteor Gun with the Liquid Nitrogen Gun?
>>715737192I played the HD trilogy on RPCS3 2 years ago and the only issue I had was ratchet's helmet being too big for his head in cutscenes. The odd crash as well but overall great experience.
>>715749703A great first game, a good second game, a bad third game.
>>715735142 (OP)Respectfully, no. Enemies die from # of hits rather than HP. No need to buy weapons.
I did a wrench-only run and it was easy. Only time I had trouble was running past the tank on Rilgar.
>>715749620>GC did a pretty decent jobThat's funny because my last playthrough had me doing exactly as I described with no issues. The only notable instance weapon utility mattered was for the Yetis like you said, but only because they were such a terribly designed enemy that they basically forced you to have to use the shield charge.
Going Commando marked the death of strategy in Ratchet combat.
